The use of drug that serves as a channel to crimes like corruption as said. Even so, addiction to drugs is infinite. People can't restrain it's habit to these substances. Corruption affects the poorest the most because people that are stealing the thing/s that are originally to them are smuggled by the wrong people, and these people ranked up from poverty and the poorest still going down. This crime can lower over economic impact when it comes when negotiating with other country; it is such a shame for all of us. However, the impact of corruption on poverty versus the effects of inequalities that are structured into law, such cheating is made during negotiating and trading some business with local and foreigner. Some adjustments such killing the culprit is made that people who are stealing and cheating on constituents are into drugs as well. It is harder to see these other informal doings than to see farmers suffering and working under the sun. Corruption sometimes leads to extrajudicial killings, people seek to this crime but as I know and serve that local and national government officials are blind to this kind of crime, they let it pass through the present and not knowing that it is becoming larger. It is proved that drugs and corruption are
Leaders such as Mrs. Bailey and J.T show how those in authorities misuse their position and promote drug abuse, sexual intrigue and violence. For instance, Mrs. Bailey could pay young men to have sex with her (Venkatesh, 2009. C- Note is used to as an example of how the hustlers struggle with life as he does different types of jobs so as to earn some dollars for life. The author also shows how the police department is corrupt and how they are violent themselves instead of helping fight violence. In the book Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the people of London in this future dystopian society take a pill called a soma that calms your nerves and helps your mind deal with stressful situations. Anytime they get worried at all or just feel down they take soma. (Huxley, 1998) Society should be against mood enhancing drugs because it alters their state of mind and effects the natural way of dealing with emotional situations. There are drugs that people take to alter their mood; some in a good way others may be bad.
Danielle Allen who is a “political theorist” wrote this article to bring perspective on the effects of the “War on Drugs” declared by late President Nixon, on mainly the African-American communities, and minorities. This war was meant to stop drug abuse to improve our communities, instead, it turned into a war on the people of our country. Danielle Allen begins with what we hold as truths in our society by quoting amendments from the Declaration of Independence, “that all the people are created equal…that among these are Life, Liberty, and pursuit of Happiness”. She created a platform of these truths to remind the reader of beliefs and values of the American society. She also used Declaration of Independence further creating with an overview of the issues that we are facing today.
It is a colossal failure. It nearly destroyed a generation of people. As the War on Drugs near 50 years, we know it was a massive failure. I am talking about the failed American Drug War and its negative effects on African-Americans. Let us never forget the moment when President Nixon’s former domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman revealed in an interview with Harper’s Magazine in 1994 that was published last year that, “The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people”.
The House I Live in: The War on Drugs The U.S. have been facing the war on drugs during many years. It 's war that will never end. A war that the U.S. will never be able to win. The drug war affects most of the poor and the minority groups, including their family members.
“Turn on, tune in, drop out.” (Cite) Psychologist Timothy Leary made this hypnotic phrase popular during the 1960s. Having many ways of perceiving it, the majority of the people at the time viewed it as a creative slogan for taking psychedelics. These psychedelics were mind-altering drugs such as LSD, mescaline, or psilocybin mushrooms. The youth’s curiosity and desire for expanding your consciousness made the use of these drugs increasingly popular.
For example, the corrupted people can enjoy a better life but other is still get trouble on how to live a good life. The most dangerous effect of corruption is when judiciary is corrupted. Development, justice and civil society are based on law and justice, but in developing countries corrupted people uses law to justify their illegal behaviors. Otherwise, there are many cases that government officials cooperate with mafia in other developing countries.
Drug courts, initially propelled in Florida in 1989, are an arrangement of escalated treatment and supervision. The thought is to treat the instances of peaceful substance-mishandling guilty parties uniquely in contrast to other criminal cases in light of the fact that the dependence is at the base of the criminal action. Accentuation is on recovery instead of discipline. Drug Courts are the best equity intercession for treating drug-dependent individuals the purpose of drug courts is to diminish drug use, lessen wrongdoing, spare cash, and it reestablish lives with sparing more hardship on the kids and reconnecting families together. Drug Courts serve a small amount of the assessed 1.2 million drug dependent individuals presently included in the equity framework.
“The Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution prohibited the “manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors” in the United States” (HIST Third Edition, 2014). Prohibition swiftly created bootleggers, speakeasies, moonshine, bathtub gin, and smuggling supplies of alcohol across state lines. “In 1927, there were an estimated 30,000 illegal speakeasies--twice the number of legal bars before Prohibition” (Prohibition, 2015). Prohibition also promoted corruption and contempt for law and law enforcement among large amounts of society. “Harry Daughtery, attorney general, accepted bribes from bootleggers.
Obviously, not every drug is an instant bait hook but according to drugrehab.com, “You are at the mercy of your brain. It plays a significant role in your dependence to a substance.” The mental state at which a person is at will likely determine the course of the next years to come if they choose to participate. Human beings tend to lean in the direction of what is easy. They are cheating their own minds and bodies to get to the happy side fast rather than taking it slow each day to overcome battles.
Non-Violent Drug Offenders Releasing nonviolent drug offender’s would not only free them from their harsh sentences in the US correctional system, but also reduce overcrowding in prisons. Nonviolent drug offenders committed crimes generally involving burglary, drug trafficking, drug possession, and larceny however, they do not implicate as a threat of harm or attack upon a victim. Prisons overcrowding is a burgeoning conflict in the U.S nevertheless, coming up with a plan to release “low-level” could not threat offenders could a be a solution.
Mental illness can be self-induced via drugs that is ‘brought about by oneself’ (8) for example, Cocaine or crystal methamphetamine can cause hallucinogenic effects which can develop into severe mental health. However, there are many questions about self-induced drugs and how the criminals are sentenced, is it fair that they get sentenced more leniently than someone who did it whilst being aware of their crime as they are not under the influence of drugs? One can say that it is unjust for the criminal justice system to sympathise with drug abusers whilst they chose to make a conscious decision to take these drugs. On the other hand, the factors that lead to drug use include external sources that can mean they may lack some control in their

The financial costs of illicit drug use can be roughly measured by how much the government spend on law enforcement and the loss of human productivity. Globally the world spends $100 billion annually on law enforcement aimed in an effort to enforce, prevent, treat, and reduce harm caused by illegal drugs. Despite all the money spent on the interdiction of illegal drugs, drug markets continue to rise and expand. Law enforcement provides very poor value for money that should instead be allocated for education, public infrastructure or in the form of lower taxes. Additionally, drug use causes loss in human productivity which is bad for the economy.
As of recent, the war on drugs has been a very often discussed topic due to many controversial issues. Some people believe the War on Drugs has been quite successful due to the amount of drugs seized and the amount of drug kingpins arrested. I believe this to be the wrong mindset when it comes to the war on drugs. The war on drugs isn’t a winnable one so we must do all that is possible to assist those who struggle with drug addiction and decriminalize small amounts of drugs. These minor changes in the way we combat drugs will create significant change and have lasting effects.
