What is Dutch culture?
The Dutch culture is created by lots of countries. Several reasons are the immigration of people that bring their beliefs, traditions and lifestyle with them. This is for example because of wars (such as the Second World War caused Rotterdam to be bombed and created a very new city with new buildings), but also things like trading with other countries and going on holidays and our history have caused the culture we have today. Cultures never stay like they are because of several cultures in the same region which influence the others. A creation is made that have traits of all cultures that create a new culture which is multicultural. These includes aspects of the old, ‘Dutch’ culture like stroopwafels and tulips as well as from other cultures like the kapsalon

Many of the ‘typical Dutch’ traits are actually from foreign country, brought to us by immigrants long ago. Take the Dutch tulips, they are actually Turkish. Or the potato originated in South-America. Especially fashion is being influenced by immigrants. For example, the youth started using waist bags again. This trend was started by the Moroccan youth whom had immigrated to the Netherlands
In our country, there are numerous different cultures and subcultures. Subcultures often have their own style, people express this style by wearing certain clothes or listening to certain music. Some examples of these subcultures are emo, hippie, punk, nerd and hipster. These subcultures are usually the only subcultures people choose to belong to, in the other cases people often follow their parents. There are also ethnic and religious subcultures. These have of course to do with where you origins lie and in which god you believe. By all means you do not belong to ethnic subcultures voluntary, this is just a case of

Christy Wampole identifies the primary reason she feels modern young people adopt an “ironic” persona as the lack of culture the generation has to offer. As she describes her reasons for feeling this way, her statements could be classified as a claim of value, and in my opinion, it is not very convincing. I do agree with some of her points, and her piece is definitely thought-provoking, however, she attempts to prove her opinions based on judgements because of her own belief system. To Wampole, the young generation should not dress hipster, because it is not a true expression of who they are, but instead, it is an ironic way of life. To Wampole, all of the forms of art that are being “imitated” is just a repeated version of generations before, and in
The Cajun Traditions and Co-existence with other Cultures My Grandmother, born in Lafayette, Louisiana, is African, French, and Native American. The origin of our Cajun ethnic group can be traced back to the Acadians who were mostly French Speakers coming from Acadia (Klingler, Thomas and Chantal 275). Currently, the population of Cajuns has a great social impact in Louisiana. Their presence in the community led to the interaction with other ethnic groups such as the Africans in which they shared common resources (Klingler, Thomas and Chantal 275). The result of the interaction was therefore intermarriages and the sharing of various social facilities such as churches that led to the emergence of improved cultures.
Every day we use our culture. Whether it be to argue claims, express opinions, or make decisions, culture plays a part in each area. Culture is who we are, one’s identity, its extent is enormous over our views and actions. A person grows up surrounded with culture at a young age. This can affect how they learn and what they learn.
The way society dresses today is inspired by punk rock music. Usually tight jeans, tight shirts, dark clothing, are worn by teenagers who listen to that music because they want to fit in to the “scene” or, trend (Bailey 14). One trend, in the 1960s and ‘70s, is of long, extended songs that focus more on theatric instruments than a lyrical motive. Led Zeppelin is a prominent example of that trend (Hanner Unpopular Culture: The Relationship between Punk Rock and Mainstream Society).
Inspired by social icons in the news, most American followed suit in the crazy hair trends, soon making them the norm. Following the trend of consumerism, dressing for success also became big as citizens tried to mimic the wealth and beauty they had come to know in icons of the time. Genres of dressing also arose in the contrasting styles of “Preppy” and “Street Style”. The first favoring the typical white-suburban look, many wore pastel polos, sweaters, Keds shoes, and jean or khaki pants. Street style, however; followed the rise of Hip Hop and Pop, taking inspiration more from music stars in the form of sequin dresses, colorful athleisure pieces, wild prints, and outrageous colors.
Every society makes its own culture based on their language, religion, science, conventions, eating, wearing customs and social life. The culture also takes shape and undergoes change in time. This development can be in a short or long period. When the effects on cultures are taken into consideration, classifications
Old Victorian style dolls gave rise to the Lolita Style in the 1980s, a style that continues to this day. Culture and Religion seem to be working hand in hand in society, when looking at culture we look at characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, food, social habits (things that are done natural e.g. saying please and thank you), music and arts. With religion people often use the word to mean the worship of a god or gods. However, some religions do not have gods. One thing that all religions have in common is that they help their believers to find meaning and comfort in the world by using some aspects from that particular religion. With culture and religion playing a big role in our everyday and life choices contraceptives go against a lot of cultural and religion choices and
Different parts of our culture today have roots in history. The production culture, how a product gets from creation to us, is based off of the historical “outwork” process. Today, different jobs have unions that protect the workers. This working culture has evolved from the working conditions during the Industrial Revolution. In 1884 Europeans met to decide the future of Africa.
The Language Culture and Society programme provides us with strong theoretical and interdisciplinary foundation for the study of a range of educational practices across the human lifespan and in a range of theoretical and methodological perspective is brought to bear on studies that explore the nature of literate practices, democracy and civic engagement and participation in social life. The programme focuses on relationships between education school and the dynamics and changing structures of language, culture, and society. It examines connection between broader, social, cultural, linguistic, historical, aesthetic and political factors in education and the local context in which these issues take place. It has long been recognized that language is an essential and important part of a given culture and that the impact of culture upon a given language is something intrinsic and indispensible. Language is a social phenomenon.
