As a concept ecotourism has gained momentum recently in India, but as a way of life Indians has practiced ecotourism since times immemorial by their traditional approach to nature and rich cultural heritage. The immense popularity of ecotourism in India stems from the fact that people are becoming increasingly conscious of the environmental hazards and the importance of the existence of diverse flora and fauna. The ecological diversity of India is arguably the most varied in the world. Ecotourism does not disturb or modify the actual biodiversity of India; it only popularises the secluded parts of India.
