On the last day of my SPM examination, my mum approached me to enquire what I would like to pursue for my future career. At that very instant, I told her that I would like to take up Electrical & Electronic Engineering. It was no surprise to her because she knew instinctively that I have chosen the right course. Since my secondary school years, I have always been an inquisitive and extrovert person. Electrical & Electronic Engineering is my little dream – my goal of what I wanted to do as a career for my future undertaking. Many a time, I would ponder in admiration at the numerous engineering feats that have surfaced from time to time to continuously change the ways we do things and to improve the qualities of life of humankind. Today, we are able to light up towns and cities with LED lights, transmit digital signals across continents by means of satellite transmission or through fiber optic cables and more importantly, almost all our household products are run on electricity. The use of electricity is fundamental to modern life and the potentials for more developments and researches in this field are immense in order to utilize electricity efficiently and effectively and at the same time to combat climate changes and pollution by cutting down on the burning of coal which is used to produce energy (electricity) to supply thousands of factories in the industrial world. My fascination in this field is further nurtured during my senior high school years when I participated in the “Mighty Minds Challenge” organized by the The Star Publications where my friends and I were required to design a lamp model which used solar energy to produce light. Although we did not qualify for the next round, to me it was indeed a valuable experience. But more importantly, the set-back only served to spur me on to do better and enable me to understand how various principles of science can be applied to solve a specific …show more content…
I was proud to be a part of the marching band and orchestra in my school that carried out numerous performances at various public functions. By taking part in these extra-curricular activities, I have over the years molded myself into a more confident person who is able to show leadership and communication skills not only among my peers but also with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures. During my senior years at high school, I was also nominated for the “Excellent Student Award” after achieving straight As with 8A+ in my SPM (Malaysian Certificate of

I have a story that I would love to share with you all, I doubted myself although I had practiced, during the table service competition in the service portion I mistakenly poured water into the candle holder, when I told my instructor he asked "what in the world made you think that the candle holder was a glass?! " My response was, " I thought it was a fancy glass!" But that did make me hide my face, I pushed through the rest of the competition, with shaking hands, and a confidence level that hit rock bottom. Later I brushed it off and I said to myself, mistakes have to be made to achieve greatness.
I have been an active member in multiple school extracurricular activities. Mu Alpha Theta is one of the clubs I part take in, and I have been a member for three years. In Mu Alpha Theta, I participate in inter-school test, practice math problems and attend math competition. Another club I participate in is National Honor Society. I have been a member in National Honor Society for eleventh and twelfth grade.
I am looking for more than just academics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During my four years at Northwood High School, I became involved in numerous academic and extracurricular activities. As a result, I have been recognized and honored for achievements both inside and outside of school. I realize that titles and academic achievements are limited, but some of the impact I have on my community and other people’s lives is what really matters. Therefore, I plan to continue my active involvement in extracurricular activities while I am a college student.
At church, I was beehive and mia maid first counselor and the pianist in the primary. In the musicals I was a lead dancer. I am a member of the National Honor Society. I volunteered to teach children music lessons after school as part of a mentor
I play six instruments including Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Clarinet, Mellophone, and Piano, and I sing in my Church Choir as well. In all of my Highschool career, I have developed numerous skills whether it be from being head of groups, able to speak in big crowds, and making sure that everyone understood their positions. Starting eighth grade, I had begun my journey by being a part of the Junior National Honor Society and becoming our classes representative, or as others say “Junior High valedictorian”. At this point in my life, I was able to realize that I demonstrated all the characteristics that a leader needed, and I was viewed to students and teachers as a mentor. After I had been promoted to High School, I was ambitious and challenged myself to be a part of Louder Than A Bomb poetry group. Freshman year was the Louder Than A Bombs first year at our High School which caused that year to be the group's building block.
Through extra-curricular activities, I have obtained the necessary social skills for interactions in a regular workplace. Choir taught me to cooperate with large groups of people who share a purpose; National French Honor Society allowed me to emerge as a leader and gain experience managing a room full of excitable people and organizing meetings; and National Honor Society
I am an active member in a wide variety of activities. I am very involved in 4-H and FFA. Through these clubs, I have participated in many community service projects. I work hard in the classroom and I’m very goal driven. I have a 3.14 GPA, and I strive to do better each and every day.
At the end of the year for auditions, I decided to try out for Symphonic band, the top band in our school. Because I was in one of the last bands, a lot of people told me this would be very difficult to do. When the results came in I found out I had made symphonic. I was very proud of myself with how much I had improved within just a year. I even got the Academic Excellence for Concert 2 band award at the end of the 2013-2014 school year.
The people that share my hobby, that I spend all my waking minutes with, are the most generous, talented, intelligent, and loving people that you could imagine. These people have helped me grow into who I am as a person now, and are genuine people that I know I will maintain lifelong relationships with. The band that I willingly devote every spare minute of my free time to has come so far, and I have had the honor of experiencing extreme milestones in the path of success for this school. In my first year, we traveled to Bands of America Grand Nationals in Indianapolis for the first time in Round Rock Dragon Band history, and placed fourth out of nearly ninety bands.
As an active member in both my school and community I have taken part in many extracurricular activities and received many honors. I find it to be very important to live my life in a way that I am able to reach my fullest potential while giving back to others at the same time. Outside of school I participate in numerous activities. In the year of 2003, I began to take piano lessons. I pursued this and eventually had the opportunity to play in a church band.
Throughout my high school career, I was forced into many situations where I was challenged to connect with my peers and serve as a role model for future students. Whether it be my involvement in the school marching band, or helping students in community tutoring sessions, I have always made it my goal to better the people around me through my own efforts. Throughout my high school career, I have put forth my best effort to connect with my peers, transform individuals, and make a difference in my community. Joining the school marching band at the beginning of my freshman year of high school was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Being a health and fitness enthusiast I have always been interested in learning about how the mind works physically and emotionally, and in what ways the body reacts to various mental states is very intriguing. That is why I want to explore the mind and the essence of the human condition. We all question or try to make sense of our life; I believe that through its many perspectives, psychology has those answers. Psychology is accessible because not only is it a scientific study of thought and behaviour, it is also an art that can be applied by the individual to everyday life. I also believe we are all psychologists attempting to understand other people and ourselves.
Every human being has their own career aspirations and mine is to be a Electrical engineer, a dream that I held ever since I was in school due to my deep interest in technical fields such as electrical and electronics. Although, electrical engineer is a difficult career to achieve because it have many obstacles and challenges to be met, but I am sure that I am able to make full preparations for the realization of my dreams. The main preparation I need to prepare is knowledge. Knowledge in Electrical engineering is essential in order for me to become a successful engineer as I am required to be able to identify, study and solve the problem that I encountered in implementing the knowledge that I have gained in university.
