My Future Aim

On the last day of my SPM examination, my mum approached me to enquire what I would like to pursue for my future career. At that very instant, I told her that I would like to take up Electrical & Electronic Engineering. It was no surprise to her because she knew instinctively that I have chosen the right course. Since my secondary school years, I have always been an inquisitive and extrovert person. Electrical & Electronic Engineering is my little dream – my goal of what I wanted to do as a career for my future undertaking. Today, we are able to light up towns and cities with LED lights, transmit digital signals across continents by means of satellite transmission or through fiber optic cables and more importantly, almost all our household products are run on electricity. The use of electricity is fundamental to modern life and the potentials for more developments and researches in this field are immense in order to utilize electricity efficiently and effectively and at the same time to combat climate changes and pollution by cutting down on the burning of coal which is used to produce energy (electricity) to supply thousands of factories in the industrial world. My fascination in this field is further nurtured during my senior high school years when I participated in the “Mighty Minds Challenge” organized by the The Star Publications where my friends and I were required to design a lamp model which used solar energy to produce light. Although we did not qualify for the next round, to me it was indeed a valuable experience. I was proud to be a part of the marching band and orchestra in my school that carried out numerous performances at various public functions. I was also the flute principle in my school band for 2 years. In addition, I was a committee member of the Chess Club and an active member of the Interact Club at school. I had participated in the English Drama competition at state level. I also represented my school for many chess competitions at district as well as state levels. By taking part in these extra-curricular activities, I have over the years molded myself into a more confident person who is able to show leadership and communication skills not only among my peers but also with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
