Exorcism
In Christianity, it is believed that spirit can possess you. To drive out the evil spirit, the afflicted needs to seek help from an exorcist who is often a member of the church and is considered to be graced with special powers or skills. Christian exorcists most commonly believe the authority given to them by the Trinity, that is, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is the source of their ability to cast out demons.
Generally, people considered being possessed are not regarded as evils themselves; they are not held responsible for their actions because they are after all being unwillingly manipulated by evil spirits. A possessed person not only causes harm to others but hurts one’s own self too.

In December 2008, Marcilio Haddad Andrino was in a coma from a viral brain infection. He needed an operation and was fighting for his life. Just before the operation, Andrino’s wife visited the Parish of Our Lady of Aparecida in Sao Vicente, asking for help. She was given a medal along with a prayer of Mother Teresa.
Next morning, according to the official version of the incident, Adrion was completely free from his symptoms. In fact, he was feeling well enough to sit on his bed.
Fernanda, Andrino’s wife, has no doubt that it was a miracle; Mother Teresa has indeed cured her very sick husband. Along with Andrino’s family and doctors, Pope Francis had no hesitation in declaring the incident as miracle too.
That was the final step needed to declare Mother Teresa a saint.

Aside from the miracles performed by the Mother, the nun who settled down in Kolkata- a poverty ridden Third World city- carried out immense humanitarian works both for people of the city and worldwide. When asked why she chose to do what she did, her answer was simple: she received “the call within the call”. She was already dedicated to the work of God but she needed to take it beyond the confines of the church so that she could touch the life of the neediest among
Telling fortunes, showing peoples faces in glasses, enchantments, and healing the sick are some of the things people who practiced witchcraft claimed to be able to do. New Englanders often turned to people who could do these things for favors and referred to them as "cunning folk" (pg.107). The New Englanders didn't see any harm in using their occult powers for there own good, when in fact these people were in contact with the devil. They did not see it that way but they were indeed risking being banished to hell.
The Beginning of it all Several hundred years ago, many Christians and other religious persons, had a strong belief that the Devil could give people, known as witches, the power to harm others in return for their loyalty to him. A "witchcraft craze" spread throughout Europe from the 1300s to the end of the 1600s. Tens of thousands of supposed witches—mostly
Even as a young child, Patria wanted to devote her life to the Church and become a nun. She went on to abandon this plan, however, and marry her husband, Pedrito. Nonetheless, her life and character are both dominated by her devotion to God. Unlike her sister, Minerva, who began to notice the malfeasances of the Church under Trujillo’s rule early on, Patria stays devout. It is only through God and the Church that she joins the revolution.
Around 11:30 PM that night she began to experience the pain. Contraction after contraction, the only thing she knew to do was call on Jesus. Her mom was by her side, while her dad waits in the waiting room, and Jesus sitting high, looking low soothing all the pain. Finally she 's in the room and her doctor was not on duty.
One day, Patria travels with her church group to the mountains, however there was a sudden attack and a boy was wounded. Patria was sympathetic towards the boy and considered him as her own son. She, “saw wonder on his face as the life drained out of him, and I thought, he’s one of mine… I’m not going to sit back and watch my babies die” (162). This situation shows the love that Patria has for her kids.
She helped so many people with her school and the Sisters of Charity. My goal in life is to help people and to touch their lives, which is what Mother Seton did. I believe that I can look to Elizabeth Ann Seton when I am going through a rough time. I can remember her story and it will give me strength to know that God is there and He will help me through it. Elizabeth Ann Seton lived a life of holiness and everyone around her could tell that.
People are tired, weak, and sick, and they need a strong young girl to help take care of them. She has proven her helpfulness in a lot of different events throughout the novel. For instance, she helped take care of her mother who fell ill early into the story. She took care of her the best she could, all by herself. Evidence in the text states,” I took two extra clothes press and hurried upstairs to watch over Mother...
She wanted to express to her precious son to take on any opportunity that the universe threw at him for he is not the only one with admirable qualities. She urged him to carry on head strong no matter the circumstances and by providing all this support and love she sent him off with confidence and motivation to bring his mother “justice, fortitude, and every good virtue which can adorn a good citizen” (Adams). to continue making her
Like any other woman, she had emotions, her heart was heavy and full of grief. In all of this anguish and pain on the cross, Jesus knowing the suffering of His mother said, “behold the son!” Jesus then turned to His disciple and said, “Behold thy mother!” That disciple then took her into his own

An article from the Psychiatric Times titled “Witchcraft or Mental Illness?” included similar findings when the author, Beatriz Quintanilla stated that “Hysteria and epilepsy were the 2 illnesses most frequently confused with witchcraft or demonic possession”. Both of these mental disorders can express symptoms of convulsions, seizures, loss of consciousness, or tremors, which have been confused with witchcraft in the past (Quintanilla). Many disorders were not understood well enough by anyone during this time for proper diagnosis to be
Witches practice witchcraft which grants access to let witches have communication with the devil. Furthermore, “the culmination of the mythology of witchcraft came about from the 15th to the 18th centuries in the depiction of the witches Sabbath” (Carroll). Witchcraft is talked about and defined in the book, The Element Encyclopedia of Ghosts & Hauntings, saying, “Witchcraft is an ancient art that utilizes the powers of nature and the mind to bring out desired effect” (Cheung 539). In addition to that, witchcraft works by using certain combinations of natural elements to draw certain energies.
“Many cultures have viewed mental illness as a form of religious punishment or demonic possession. In ancient Egyptian, Indian, Greek, and Roman writings, mental illness was categorized as a religious or personal problem (“"Mental Health Hospitals and Deinstitutionalization”).” This quote shows that even in the ancient civilizations, people viewed mentally ill people as being “possessed” but really it was the lack of understanding and religious fervor that led to this conclusion. Some of the treatments they used were, “Priests often solaced mentally disturbed individuals by encouraging them to repent their sins and seek refuge in God’s mercy (Foerschner, par. 2).” They would make them go to church regularly, and go on holy pilgrimages to

1. There are a bunch of ways to test to see if a possession was real. They would test a possession by using a dhup or an incense by putting it under the nose of the “possessed”. If that person did not flinch with the incense under their nose, then they were thought to be possessed. 2.
