They cannot concentrate, especially at school, with too much homework. A student’s mind should stay focused and calm. They should rest, if rest enough so that they can work with energy. The student should be given a certain amount of work so that they can be prepared if a test or an exam is near. But this does not mean that they should be given endless stacks of homework.
There are many reasons why students shouldn’t have homework, during this essay people will learn why having homework isn’t helping the student, except making things more difficult for them. There are 24 hours in a day, 8 of those hours belong to school. From the moment when a student wakes up, they begin to prepare for school then go to school, most schools start around 8:00-9:00 am, so most students get up 1-2 hours earlier to get ready. Students need at least 8-9 hours of sleep to be able to function. With students having after school activities that take up around 2 hours, students are exhausted and when they get home all the want to do is relax, but some of them have responsibilities that they have to do, which gives them less time to relax from a long day of school.
One team will go after school and the other will come back later and practice. Which limits the amount of family, homework, and free time. If school were longer it would reduce the amount of time that each of them could use the gym. They would have to make it equal time. If students have a job after school and play a sport, then they probably will fail to be able to bear both with school starting later.
It does not help with grades. When all children 's time after school is devoted to homework children start to not pay attention to there work and just getting it down on paper so they can go and play. It makes children hate school and be in a mindset not to learn. Young children need free time to unwind from the day and if a parent tries to get that child under control to do their homework it will take more time to finally get them to do there work
Longer School Days: Does it Really Help? Longer school days would diminish a child’s happiness. Students barely want to attend school now, so why would the Board of Education even want to extend the hours? Oh, I know extended school hours increase test scores which increase ratings and that’s what really matters right, not the student’s social life, or their well-being, but what place you’re in, in the vast education race against billions of schools. However, it’s wrong, false, simply inaccurate, I mean there’s even evidence to verify its deceitfulness, such as “Children and teenagers in the United States spend more hours in school than kids in Asian countries, according to data compiled in 2009.
With all the time students spend on homework, they feel obligated to drop other activities in order to have enough time to complete their assignments. Most students don’t know what they want to do when they get out of high school. It is through extracurricular activities that students find their interests and learn to express themselves. The National Center of Education found that students who participated in extracurricular activities have a higher school attendance, GPA, test scores, and expected educational goals. However, students are dropping out of theses out of school activities because of the lack of time.
With an earlier start time I was able to leave earlier, giving me more time to efficiently take part in extracurricular activities and get an adequate sleep. Not only do school start times need to stay the same because of the ripple effect it will have on after school activities, but also because it prepares you for the real world. Many adults are said to function with sleep debt because of the early morning driving to work and the late nights working at the office. If high schools push back start times they would not be preparing students for the future. High school is one of the final steps before entering the real-world and becoming a working adult striving to make a living.
When teachers give us homework I understand that they may be trying to help us, but from my perspective homework only brings stress upon us, takes time away from sleeping and other activities, and it burns kids out and can hurt their grades. Follow along as I prove your points of why we need to put a stop to homework or else we could have some serious issues. I’ll bring my best point first, which is that homework just results in too much stress which can be unhealthy. According to the US news,
This is important because it shows that the homework can be the cause of the end of one’s education. This also important because then teachers can see why some students just do not try anymore. In addition, one can see this when “They refuse to do homework and it’s lowering their grades” (LAXdoubleK). This shows that students do not even care about their grades because the homework is too much. If students already don't do the work or get that education that they should be going to school for they might just drop out, there's no point to being there in the first place.
We already spend 8 hours at school each day, and homework will disrupt this rule, which will lead to an unbalanced life. Homework will reduce a student’s sleeping and playing time, which will ultimately lead to a negative impact on their performance during the day. Schooling to a student is just as stressful as work to parents. Adults usually work the same length of time each day and come home exhausted, yet they can’t understand why their child have trouble focusing on their homework. The pressure of having to complete their homework everyday can be quite daunting for some children, and they need time to refresh their minds and bodies.
