Ultimately, I began to appreciate the primitive culture that flows through the Bay Area. Culture is a way of life of a community. Sharing such a deep culture, like the Bay Area’s, is what brings the community closer. Culture has brought a sense of connection to the locals. However, public concern has recently shifted to the wave of wealth that has flooded the Bay Area.
The book argues that by promoting inclusivity and diversity, social differences cannot stand in the way of ethnic groups interacting in positive ways. Some other key themes in The Cosmopolitan Canopy include the importance of diversity and inclusivity; the role of public spaces in promoting social cohesion; the challenges of creating a cosmopolitan canopy in different urban settings; and the need for people to interact with those who are different from themselves in order to reduce social tensions and promote understanding. In addition, Anderson utilizes folk ethnography to explore the dynamics of public spaces in different urban settings, and to understand how people from different backgrounds interact with each other in these
In the end, we drastically changed their government systems to resemble something like the government system the U.S uses. The U.S also planted their own politicians in the government's placed in these islands. To many Americans, civilization had been brought to these out reaching lands. Document C highlights that feeling of superiority as Alvert J. Beveridge speaks of the Philippines having a bloody rule from which the U.S saved them from. He also talks about the U.S having a humane and civil government compared to the Philippines.
The articles in this essay will give three different insights on how American culture is perceived based on observations and first hand experiences. Jennifer Price, “The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History,” used the trend of the pink flamingo to describe a time of new and vibrant change that has shaped its culture to be strong and optimistic. Richard Rodriguez, Days in Obligation, gives his first hand experience of being a part of two different cultures to give a comparison between total opposite places, who have their own traditions and customs. Scott Sanders, Stay Put: Making a Home in a Restless World, presents his belief of ideas are more important to the American people than the places which they live in. All of these writers all give substantial information of their viewpoints which combined makes up the identity of American culture.

The richness of El Paso, Texas relies on the vast diversity observed in each one of its citizens, which has opened the way for El Paso to develop as a multicultural city. Emigration has been one of the main factors that has diversified El Paso’s cultural background, citizens from all over the world have landed a foot over American territory and have made it theirs, several nationalities, several races, one community, one El Paso. Senator Beveridge who is for the American control of the Philippines creates his argument on the fact that it would make for a good port of trade and it would be able to connect the United States and the Asian economy. However, Beveridge's argument has some fallacies in it that denounce his argument. For example he points out that geographically china is closer to the U.S. than it is to Germany and the UK so it would be logical for the U.S. to trade with China. At this time though Hawaii had just become a U.S. territory and the United States economy remained within the mainland of the U.S., which makes the statement that China is closer to the U.S. at this time false. Beveridge says that it is the US’s patriotic duty to bring order to this
Mary Louise Pratt’s essay “ Arts of the Contact Zone” opens up a new concept for social spaces where cultures meet in a context of extensive differences of power in social and intellectual classes. It can be a dangerous place where people misunderstand each other, but it can also be a place where people learn from each other and have a mutual understanding.
