Many people confuse the term ‘greenhouse effect’ and ‘global warming’ and believe that it is one and the same bad thing. But without the greenhouse effect the earth would be a lot colder. Life as we know it is made possible by earth’s natural greenhouse effect, simply put the greenhouse effect is what keeps the earth warm.

However, human activities such as power stations, factories, and transportation use fossil fuels and therefore release huge amounts of carbon dioxide. The clearing of forests are also contributing to the enhanced greenhouse effect, in other words global warming.

The greenhouse effect is, as mentioned earlier, what makes life on earth as we know it possible.

In today’s society it might be hard to try to decrease CO2, methane and other greenhouse gases, but if we can afford to use renewable energy instead of fossil fuels and eat less meat than we do now then we might be able to decrease them. And we must remember that trees will help us on the road to improvement as they absorb the carbon dioxide that we let out, so for every tree that we cut down we should at least plant another one. We could plant a tree instead of placing gravestones to honor the person that has passed away. It is important to make all these changes now as tomorrow might be too late. Because the ice bears and other animals (that might not survive the big climate change) might not be alive when we decide that tomorrow is a good time to make a
