The second part is the educational sanctions where the student can be tasked with university or community service in relation to the violation committed. If I had been given these tasks and not completed them in time, I would have run the risk of being placed on Honor Violation Probation until the tasks are completed. The professor can choose to implement a grade reduction in the course, a zero for the assignment grade, a requirement to complete extra assignments or tasks in the course, requirement to attend the Academic Integrity Development Program, placing me on Honor Violation Probation, or any combination of these penalties. I understand this is an inexcusable mistake, your faith in me righting my wrong by reworking my original paper and submitting an extra report, gives me the opportunity to learn from this experience. The professor could also have decided in his opinion if the violation shows cause that I deserve a sanction of separation from the …show more content…
An honor violation report is filed through the Honor system website by the professor and this report becomes part of the new student case file. This case report is then sent to the department head and either the Academic Operations Committee or the Graduate Operations Committee representatives for that college that the violation was committed in. The Aggie Honor System Office then decides if there was a possible violation committed. If there are no prior violations on record by the student then the professor can then choose to handle the case personally, the types of steps are that of which can be referred to in the above paragraphs, or continue to refer it to the Honor Council for further action. The student is then notified that the report has been filed by the Aggie Honor System Office through email and is to await the commencement of an
Not so long ago, the honor code system was brought up to the U.S. Senate whether if it’s best to have it input schools to lessen cheating behaviors from students. It was not welcomed at first for those that were against the honor codes and as well of the people in the Senate. Even though after all the revisions and such, some voted to agree to have the codes set in place that would be good enough to have around in school; albeit honor codes don’t always work around schools, and cheating or some type of academic dishonesty will always happen— it’s inevitable. It seems by having these honor codes set in place, it would oppose the cheating and consequences against students. As the ones who have voted for the honor code wanted that safe, confidential, and knowing that their hard work and knowledge wasn’t used against them.
Honor codes are an important and controversial topics on the universities on America. Many professor and students defend honor codes, by saying that are creating a culture of trust, and are they are also created to stop plagiarisms. At the same time many professor and students are against honor codes by saying that, honor codes are outdated and that is not including the new culture that students behold and has not increase plagiarize Lynn Morton is a professor at Queens University, in charge of giving a speech ` `Choosing Honor`for the new students of the class of 2008. She starts her speech by welcoming them and telling them that she has a college student daughter, and why she is related to honor codes. During her speech she explains why honor codes are one of the most important topics at the Queen University and why does she believes that
This constant, knowledgable breaking of the honor code not only strips the honor code of its true meaning, it demonizes it into something unfair and unjust. Therefore, in order for the honor code to retain its intended meaning, it must be amended to not penalize students who do not report their classmates but instead, to have students serve as judges in honor councils. This implementation of honor councils would allow peers to recognize the true cost of their actions without demonizing the values of the honor code as well as assist in redefining what the honor code truly
In the movie “Do the Right Thing” directed by Spike Lee and released in 1989, is a very debatable and contentious film, which reflected what life was like for people of that neighborhood and of that time period. The movie leaves viewers with the constant conflict of who is right and who is wrong; however every character feels that they are doing what is right, and that the other people are doing them wrong, which leaves the viewer with the tough decision of who is the one that is correct. The big unruly act that happened I the movie was the death of radio Raheem, who was murdered in cold blood by the police officers of New York. None the less a life was lose, and life cannot be replaced or brought back. The quote from Malcom X
She did not misrepresent her attendance. She did not forge her, or another’s, signature on the sign-in sheet. She did not knowingly furnish false information to the institution. Furthermore, Olivia is not guilty of facilitating academic dishonesty. Facilitating academic dishonesty requires one to intentionally or knowingly help of attempt to help another to violate a provision in the code.
“Since “everyone else” is cheating, they have no choice but to do the same to remain competitive. And there is growing evidence many students take these habits with them to college.” (McCabe, Donald and Pavela). More and more colleges are using the honor codes. The honor code has helped to prevent cheating.
Whenever rules are made, there’s always a way around them. Rules and codes have to be followed but at the same time their flawed. Students and staff members over time learn to get around certain things that can get them in trouble. Without actually breaking the honor code, individuals are able to manipulate it after getting a good sense of the

The honor code is used to keep students from making bad decisions educational wise, for example, cheating and plagiarism, therefore, the honor is used to keep students inside the behavioral codes that the honor code has to offer. Introduction Academic Integrity is an essential component of third level education because it is the fundamental building block in which we derive our professional ethics and integrity from. It sets a pattern for life long integrity in all areas of life. Our job as students is to construct knowledge honestly and fairly. A culture of honesty earns a great deal of respect. Integrity is fundamental to everything we do in college, I don’t think we can have genuine learning without integrity.
Integrity is a term used to describe a person 's level of honesty, moral commitments, and willingness to do what 's right. Choosing what is right over what is fun, fast or easy, and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them. Given the real definition of integrity, we recognize that it is actually extremely difficult to be in integrity 100% of the time. We aspire to be in integrity with what we believe but sometimes, we mess up. Sometimes, our emotions get the best of us and we are unable to manage our behavior and actions.
Sexual assault is a form of forced sexual violence. The term sexual assault can be defined as an act in which a person sexually violates a victim without the victims consent. This is one of the most common problems faced by many schools in South Africa, the problem of sexual assault amongst learners in South African school. Sexual assault is an unlawful act, which the perpetrator can be sentenced to jail for practicing it. Sexual assault can be in a form of fondling of unwanted sexual touching, forcing a victim to perform sexual acts such as oral sex or penetrating the victim’s body and torturing a person in a sexual manner.
Respect, everybody wants it, but few actually get it. True respect is not something that you can impose or ask from others; it is something that others gives to you from their own will and it is not that easy to get. We live in a feminized society and most people are egocentric, immature and do not follow tradition and honor code anymore. A lot of people will be jealous of your success and start hating you instead of respecting you.
Respect is an important life skill needed to coexist with others in our current society. Whether it’s in elementary school or high school, we’ve always been taught to treat each other with respect. Here at JFK, our motto is “respect is the key to success”. The word respect, in my opinion, means to treat each other equally despite their difference in opinions, race, gender, or any other aspect that could skew your opinion on who someone is. I agree with the school motto, however, it doesn’t hold true in our school and can definitely be improved upon.
The belief of respect is important that managers, supervisors, employees at the organization also reflect organization’s culture and manner. I realized that respect others is an effective way to improve my own quality and it requires me to respect others’ achievement and custom. Therefore, respect is my basic quality and I have to be patient with each employee although I am a leader in the future career. 4.2 Examining Political, Cultural and Social Realities Power is defined as a capacity that the behavior of A has to be affected and act according to B’s wishes (Robbins et al., 2010).
