Describe the distribution, growth, and dynamics of the world human population and analyze the impact of the human population on the environment.
Over the last fifty years the human population has greatly increased. In 1950 the world population was at a very low 2.5 billion people. In 2005 in just a short 55 years the population skyrocketed to an astonishing 6.5 billion people. In 2017 (Now) the population is still increasing sitting at around 7 billion people. It seems the population will only continue to grow, by year 2050 the population is estimated to be at a staggering 9 billion. In the U.S we have a pretty good life expectancy (Around 78-80 years) but globally it stands a measly 68 years. What does this mean? As the population continues to grow the environment will take a negative impact. More people means more pollution. More pollution means decreased water quality. depletion of nonrenewable resources. A lot

One way a human could play a role in a natural hazard is the extremely rapid rate of our population growth. How does this relate you ask? Well the more people on earth there are obviously the more areas of the earth get covered by humans. Areas that may have never been civilized 50-100 years ago may have thousands of people living there. Therefore a natural hazard is created because there are a group of humans living in an area where a disaster could cause deaths. I’m sure humans play another part in other natural hazards an example I can think of would be deforestation. Trees play a crucial role in how we survive and all the deforestation could cause instability in the environment, which may cause a hazardous area when the weather isn’t stable. The more the population grows the more demand we will need for places to live. Eventually we will have to inhabit areas we normally wouldn’t and in my opinion that is the biggest danger to a natural hazard because we will be forced to inhabit dangerous
In approximately a few decades we could be suffering from a negative population growth, this is happening because our population is aging and birth
The graph in Document 6 shows that since 1950, the overall life expectancy has increased. For example, in 1950 the life expectancy in Africa was below 40, but in 2019 it is almost 60. As a result, this is a positive increase because of globalization. Additionally, Document 4 explains that the increase in world population created an increase in inequality. It says the wealth ratio between the poorest 20% and the richest 20% grew from 30:1 to 60:1 between 1960 and 1991.
Since there are more buildings today, there would be more polluted water, too. I feel that there needs to be something to reduce the amount of pollution going into the water. Maybe we could find a way to filter the water before it goes tin to any larger body of water. We could also have more grassy areas that the water can absorb into, too. There were a few topics that I learned that I did not know before.
Overconsumption such as having a car which releases pollutants or building a new home. This new wave of immigrants is causing detrimental effects on the American ecological footprint. Also, to note the wave of immigrants has also is creating urbanization. Although urbanization can be positive in this case, it is negative because there has been a destruction of agricultural life to make room for the growing population. Essentially, immigration can be harmful to the environment because this new wave
The concept of environmental justice was first introduced in South Africa at the Earthlife 1992 conference (Cock 2004, p.6). Defined as the ‘fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies’ (U.S Environment Protection Agency, 2012), environmental justice aims to shift the world towards environmentally friendly development and eradicate exploitation of natural resources and indigenous communities. Most importantly, it deals mainly with the environmental injustices of these relationships, and the ways and means of rectifying these wrongs and/or avoiding them in the future
This is because every where humans go something bad happens, for example, Global Warming that is caused by pollution,
The earth is heating up 500 billion tons of ice will collapse. Then one and a half feet of sea level will rise and then the water would move 150 feet inland in Florida. If this keeps up the world will slowly but surely heat up. Without humans trying to help the environment the world could flood. Some of the problem is Human responsibility and how it is ruining the earth and how the environment and nature will fall because of Global Warming.
Humans have impacted the global environment significantly. Human populations have rapidly increased for the past few centuries. Imagine a world where sustenance is rare but people are plenty. Imagine the world where everyone's shoulders are touching one another and there is no room to move. “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift is an extremely sarcastic solution to a problem plaguing Ireland in the 1720s overpopulation.
The United States experienced an "explosion" of births after World War II. Sociologists refer to this resulting group of people as baby boomers. The first of about 76 million baby boomers recently turned 65, and they are looking forward to a life expectancy that is higher than that of any previous generation. The average life
This has an effect on both the people and the environment. Citizens will have to try to limit their water usage from daily tasks, farmers will have to think of ways in order to grow crops without consuming too much water, and the entire state will spend billions on innovative programs in order to improve the current
Introduction I. We as a human being, we age and it is said that there will be more elderly people in the future. A. According to the graph of 2012 Population Estimates and National Projections from the Current Population Report by Jennifer M. Ortman, the population aged 65 and above is projected to be 83.7 million in 2050, almost double its estimated population of
Do humans cause global warming or is it natural? Many researchers, scientists, and environmentalists are expressing concerns about changes in the overall climate of the `earth. Some believe that a dramatically dangerous warming is taking place in the overall global climate, a problem that is referred to as "global warming”. What is global warming? Global warming is an increase in the average temperature at Earth's surface (“global warming”).
Introduction Overpopulation is the excessive population of an area to the point of overcrowding and it is an undesirable condition in every country where the number of existing human population rises to an extent exceeding the carrying capacity of ecological setting. Overpopulation can be result from an increase in births, an increase in immigration, a decline in mortality rates and other factors that may cause overpopulated environment. Therefore, this can cause influence as lack of the available essential materials for survival like water, shelter, social amenities and other because of the numbers of people might be more than the materials for survival. In such condition, this regularly contributes to environmental deterioration, worsening
Balance of natural processes like pollution is crucial to the survival of the eco-system and human activity threatens the same. Another example is the destruction of coral reefs in the various oceans, which support the rich marine life. •
According to www.conserve-energy-future.com, the first factor causing environmental degradation is overpopulation. Rinkesh, World’s Top Eco-Conscious Bloggers and website owner, stated that overpopulation leads to excessive consumption of goods and necessities which impacts natural resources. This is because more people demand more food, clothes, shelter and fuel. Because of this demand, their living space needs to be expanded in order to grow food and provide homes for people.
