What is the meaning of decision making ? in some resources they define the decision making as " The thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. When trying to make a good decision, a person must weight the positives and negatives of each option, and consider all the alternatives. For effective decision making, a person must be able to forecast the outcome of each option as well, and based on all these items, determine which option is the best for that particular situation." From this define we can see that the decision making meaning its all about choose an option among different options with studying all of them and decide which one of these options is the right option.

Istikharah is done to established what we have chosen. With istikharah, we ask Allah to make it easy if we had a good choice, and barriers when it’s bad. After istikharah finished, then we do the thing that we chose earlier, with the belief that if good then God will make it easier, but if it’s bad, then God will barrier it or make it difficult to do.
In choosing earlier, Islam has made clear selection base, that’s consist of halal-mubah-makruh-haram. However, if we are still in doubt and has not decided, then it is allowed to do istikharah in order to be given guidance to good choice.
2) Istikhara is done on a case that is mubah (permissible). Not for the clear case (haram-halal).
3) It is allowed to combine istikharah with other sunnah prayer. for example combining istikharah with rawatib prayer. After Salam then pray with dua of istikharah.
4) Istikharah could be done repeatedly. In Saheeh Muslim, Ibn Zubair said “I do istikharah three times, then I was determined to run the affair.”
