Influential Person In My Life Analysis

There is not one specific influential person in my life instead there are several influential people in my life. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Thank you to my parents Josephine and Chester, my maternal grandparents Jennie and Will, as well as my aunts and uncles .

Growing up in the foothills of Virginia was an experience that I am both proud of and saddened by. I am the oldest of five children. My parents both worked so our before and after school care became the primary responsibility of our maternal grandparents

My father Chester retired from the Army and went to work for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, Virginia. My mother Josephine provided housekeeping services to several families in the area.

My grandparents lived on a farm so there was always fresh food. My favorite food was fried chicken and potato salad with flour biscuits smothered in melted butter. Grandma made several different kinds of cakes each Sunday. The kids were taught that when grown folks were talking we should find something else to do, usually that would be playing stickball, hide-and-go seek or catching fire flies. Life back then was so simple and people respected each other. Adults could correct you and by the time you got home your parents would know what you did, so you didn’t have a chance to make up a story. Let’s not forget that you needed to be in the house by the time the street lights came on.

Growing up in such a family filled with love taught me how to respect others and how to treat others the way you wanted to be treated. It also helped develop me into a well-rounded man. I have tried to instill the same values in my children. Our family is filled with loads of love and laughter. We sometimes argue, fuss and fight but at the end of the day we were taught that family always have each other back and sometimes even their
