Insomnia is the lack of sleep. Insomnia dates to the early 1600’s. Very common figures in our history suffered from insomnia. Benjamin Franklin admitted to sleeping losses throughout the night. Sir Isaac Newton suffered from insomnia as well. He had a horrible case of depression and had trouble sleeping. Marilyn Monroe even had trouble sleeping. She would take up to twenty Phenobarbital every night to prevent sleep lose. Many other famous figures were affected by sleep insomnia as well such as Napoleon, Charles Dickens, and many more. All the people mentioned had insomnia issues just for different reasons and had different symptoms. Half of the population in America have experienced sleep insomnia symptoms and 10% of them have reported chronic insomnia. Whenever the body loses sleep, it can experience many difficulties during the day. You can determine insomnia by the symptom occurrences. There are two different types of insomnia. There are acute and chronic. There are many causes of insomnia that can be closely associated with medical or psychiatric issues. Also, environmental influences, stress, along with other reasons can cause insomnia. Symptoms reported from insomnia can include sleeping not feeling refreshing, daytime sleepiness, lack of energy, concentration deficiency, irritability, aggression, impulsive behaviors, forgetfulness, decreased performance in various aspects, depression, and many more. Some other causes of insomnia can be determined as primary or secondary insomnia. Primary insomnia is not related to a medical condition. A secondary insomnia is related with a medical
