The labor management system (LMS) is said to be an application which integrates into a Hotel management system (HMS) designed to manage human resources within a hotel. It is also said to be the largest cost center in any area of the hotel and because of this the focus to improve efficiency. There are also a number of different types of labor management applications which has a wide range of capabilities. Some of these components include reactive labor management, predictive labor management, planning and scheduling, intra-day movement of labor, transportation integration, identification of employees in need of performance improvement, productivity and employee punch in and punch out.

Planning pays an important role in the success of any business. The hotel must have proper planning for a smooth flow of their day to day activities and for the proper handling of any case if an emergency arises. Planning reduce stress and allows for the increase of productivity. This system gives the employee standards to work towards. The employees would know what time to report to work and they would be aware of their task for the day, by scheduling the employees work would be done at a faster pace and in an organize manner and at a specific standard. The labour management system also provides an opportunity for employers to identify difficult situations that might arise or situations that might prohibit the system from performing its job. Problems could be, overstaffing for workloads that require minimum levels of employees. The LMS would identify this first hand and give a preview of adjustments that can be made to alleviate the problem. This system is the intra-day movement of labor. This aids in a number of other areas such as pay roll as well as productivity. This allows the manager to keep track of all the employees no member of staff can stay on the job beyond their time so as to be paid overtime when they were not requested to do so and the cannot report to work before their required time.
