There are various breeds of domesticated dogs. The Labrador Retriever, which is one of the many types of dog breeds, was believed to originate from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The Labrador Retriever is a modern generation of St. John’s dog. The existence of this breed officially began in the early 19th century; after a number of St. John’s dogs were introduced in Dorset, England (Jenner, M., n.d.). There is no specific evidence on how the Labrador retriever got its name. However, it was believed that the name (Labrador retriever) had been around long before the discovery of a letter; written by Earl of Malmes Bury dated in 1887.
