He first discusses their armor and says, “there would have been little if any metallic armor.” He then when on to state that most likely the armor was made of bronze or leather. Joshua J. Mark contributes to this topic as he says they wore “breast plate, helmet and greaves.”5 On to the subject of weapons, Lazenby states, “Offensive weapons were probably predominantly-throwing spears and swords.”10 These spears were named ‘Dour’ and were roughly seven feet long.10 Dour spears were not only used for throwing but they were crucial for the success of the Phalanx
The weaponry that caught my attention first was the use of shields. “Shields massive in the middle clashed against each other, and the sound grew huge of the fighting.” This explains that this weaponry is simple because it is massive, and can be inferred that it is made out of metal (bronze) in reference to the huge sound. It can also be inferred from the text that a shield can be used for protection that is why it is positioned in the middle of the body and to injure an enemy while running into them. In my opinion the use of a shield is a great weapon because it can used to protect any part of your body at anytime, and its metal texture is ideal in injuring your enemy. Another form of weaponry that stood out to me was the use of spears.
"Combat skills" are skills that influence the effectiveness of weapons, such as Explosives, Energy Weapons, Guns, Melee Weapons, and Unarmed. "Non-combat skills" include Barter, Medicine, Repair, and Speech. For example in many of the quests there are several different routes that can avoid fighting altogether, available only through the characters wit and there specially trained skill. Some are straightforward, such as using the lock picking skill to break into a secured location. Others may be more hidden, such as using explosive expertise to convince an NPC to help the player.
A crossbow is a weapon that consists of a prod (similar in appearance to a bow) mounted on a stock similar to a rifle stock, which has a mechanism to wind and shoot its bolts. These bolts are typically called quarrels, and do not depend upon lift as arrows do. Crossbow bolts must be made to have consistent weights as the mechanical process of engaging a bolt forces a more uniform process than that of using a bow and arrow. It is this consistent performance which has made the crossbow historically a significant force in warfare. crossbow A crossbow contains a string which is held in place by a nut when the bolt is loaded and the cross bow is engaged (referred to as at full cock).
Incognito by Windy Puspitadewi is an example of historical fantasy. The last sub-genre offered by Ryder is sword and sorcery. So, the main focal point for each character is their possession of a wide range of enviable masculine powers. Beowulf is so strong, despite his old age, that his blows break his sword in half. Achilles, with the exception of his heel, is Semi-immortal. Both heroes have massive physical challenges that they must overcome. Beowulf battles a gruesome marsh-dwelling damned creature named Grendel, while Achilles is on a quest to defeat a number of dangerous warriors who are either Trojans or are allies of the Trojans.
Catch 22 Paper In Catch 22 by Joseph Heller the book is a complex novel. Heller uses many themes, does not have the storyline in chronological order and often uses irony in his descriptions. Document 4 depicts Assyrian soldiers in battle during the reign of King Shalmaneser III. From these two documents, we can learn what type of weapons soldiers used in battle. Egyptian soldiers used chariots drawn by horses as a method of travel and bow-and-arrow for attacking. The armor that they are wearing also include a headpiece which is probably to show a person’s class or social status. Document 4 can be analyzed to show that the common weapons of Assyrian soldiers included a shield and a spear.
