The article is able to use these facts and statistics as a driving force and since it shows several credible sources it is able to directly contribute to ethos, which adds a greater sense of credibility to the overall article itself. The website’s explanatory section approaches the topic much like the first article I analyzed. Like the first article, it focuses on using logos to explain how the diet works and why it is successful for many. As logos is used, it increases the credibility and trustworthiness found in the piece.

The reality of it is that anyone can lose weight on any diet. The best way to select a diet is to research it. Look into other people’s success on different diet plans and decide which one works best for you depending on your personal tastes. Like I said at the beginning of my paper, I have successfully lost weight on the low carb diet plan because for one I wanted to get to my goal weight bad enough and for two I like meat and vegetables that are low in carbs, so I knew low carb dieting would work for me. I have a good friend who does not like meat and only likes potatoes when it comes to vegetables, so it is safe to say that a low carb diet would not work for her.

Foreyt (2010) states that “unfortunately, low fat diets seem to have done little to control the obesity epidemic.” “Newer nutritional approaches appear to be needed if obesity is ever going to be managed.” He also states that, “although there do not appear to be short-term effects of low-carbohydrate diets, their long-term effects on health are still controversial; additional studies are needed.” Even though the low carbohydrate diet might work well for a short amount of time, it might not be healthy to continue this diet for long periods of time. He is expressing concern, worried that diets are not going to be enough to beat the battle of obesity.
All you ever wanted to know about the Ketogenic Diet Contrary to most weight loss diets and programs, a ketogenic diet works on the principle of consuming less of carbohydrates. In a ketogenic diet, you are made to eat less carbs so that your body goes in to a state of ketosis. Ketosis involves breaking down of stored fats in the liver in order to produce energy for the body. Hence, your stored fats get used up and you lose weight faster. Fats do not get deposited in the body and this makes you leaner and healthier.
