Introduction
1.1 Marine life
Marine resources like oceans, rivers and lakes are the life support system for our planet, providing 97 percent of the Earth’s livable habitat and a home to more than 700,000 marine species. They are vital to human health as well, providing jobs, enjoyment and food to billions of people. Half of the oxygen we breathe is generated by these resources. Today, marine life are in more trouble than ever before from pollution and mass fishing.

1.2 Definition
Marine lives are plants, animals and other organisms that live in the ocean. No much explanation is needed to define marine life as the definition itself gives an idea to everyone. Today, marine life protection actions are taken by government or non-governmental organizations to protect marine life and to prevent marine life from extinction.
1.3 Perspective on marine life protection actions

Marine parks and sanctuaries are effective tools to manage and conserve marine resources and biodiversity. This is because these areas are required to implement a permit system under the National Marine Sanctuaries Act which regulates and oversees potentially harmful activities such as fishing, mining and water pollution. Subsequently, the diversity and overall biomass of sea life will increase significantly due to a better reproductive rate. For example, a study in southern California, USA, in which five reserves were compared to fished areas, showed that fishes normally targeted by fishermen consistently exhibited increases in abundance (of 150%), size (30%), biomass (440%) and egg production (730%) inside reserves (Tetreault & Ambrose, 2007). Hence, marine parks and sanctuaries are proven methods to protect marine life and are also supported by President Obama’s bold action to expand the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National
