Problem Solving Essay Shamyra Thompson Liberty University Summary of Author’s Position In the article “Never Say Anything a Kid Can Say”, the author Steven C. Reinhart shares how there are so many different and creative ways that teachers can teach Math in their classrooms. Reinhart also discussed in his article how he decided not to just teach Math the traditional way but tried using different teaching methods. For example, he tried using the Student-Centered, Problem Based Approach to see how it could be implemented in the classroom while teaching Math to his students. Reinhart found that the approach worked very well for his students and learned that the students enjoyed
(U) Essay Exam Question 1. (U) How did British employment of aerial reconnaissance for intelligence differ between World Wars One and Two? At what echelons (tactical, operational, strategic) did such intelligence play a role during each conflict and why? (U) The actual full utilization of aerial reconnaissance using heavier than air platforms occurred during
However I do know that when a student is being assessed the teacher is not only learning about the student behaviors however that teacher is also learning about themselves and their behaviors (The Young Child Development from Prebirth Through Age Eight, n.d). When I am working with children this process have taught me to do more assessments and therefore I will be able to learn the child and know specific what the students are capable of doing and I would be able to provide materials and strategies according to their skills and they will be more effective with excellent
When review and creating the curriculum for each room the teams of teachers will use the assessments given as a tool to make each classroom developmentally
The test should be on level how you gone know if a student learning if the test below
I think there should be an increase in formative assessment testing after each concept is taught to see if the student is retaining the information and meeting the standards for his/her level which then helps formulate a realistic and effective
Figure 1 is a summary of the students’ learning throughout the learning segment. I administrated this test as a pre-assessment prior to the lesson one and administered it again after the completion of lesson 3. This test is a compilation of students’ learning and it demonstration how they met the standards and objectives that were set out for them to achieve. The evaluation criteria in which this assessment and all other assessment in the individual lessons did was not altered. Even though the students have different learning needs, the assessment met all of the needs for all learners.
Assessments are a teacher’s tool that builds a profile on student’s growth and are the “tell-tell” detectors that provide the with teacher information on a student who may need additional services in and beyond the
Upward Bound Math and Science Upward Bound Math and Science is a program designed to strengthen the math and science skills of students in 9th to12th grade and generates the skills necessary for post-secondary programs leading to science, technology, engineering and math careers. I have always been interested in careers with a focus on math and science. Growing up I always wanted to be a scientist, but as I grow and leaned more what I want and be when I grow up changes more often, as a now I want and be a Biotechnologist. UBMS has helped me with this decision. There I spent six weeks of my summer for four years.
2:1 Compare the strengths and limitations of assessments of a range of assessment methods with reference to the needs of individual learners. Workplace Observations, question and answer/professional discussions, projects/assignments, portfolios, witness statements. A good assessor will always take into account their learners needs and what particular subject they are studying for prior to confirming with learner type of assessment method to be used. Workplace observations
This is a benefit that would significantly help the students. Without it students may be struggling with a topic and the teachers are not even aware. By looking at the scores and talking with the previous teachers they can determine what might be the best way to teach the students. This leads to the next benefit, teachers can begin a new year knowing how much each student already knows. Knowing where each student lies is beneficial because the teacher is then able to focus
Using a variety of tools that suit individual students will increase assessment data for all students as it will give them the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learnt in a way that suits their needs. Assessment for learning is considered throughout learning process and students are assessed as they learn. This is done by asking appropriate questions of the students as they learn to ensure continued understanding. This is an important tool for a student who, for example, may have English as an additional language (EAL) or has a hearing impairment. This will identify any issues with understanding of what is expected of them and gives me the opportunity as a teacher to correct any misunderstandings and to ensure they are learning what is intended for the outcome.
Part B Introduction The importance of Geometry Children need a wealth of practical and creative experiences in solving mathematical problems. Mathematics education is aimed at children being able to make connections between mathematics and daily activities; it is about acquiring basic skills, whilst forming an understanding of mathematical language and applying that language to practical situations. Mathematics also enables students to search for simple connections, patterns, structures and rules whilst describing and investigating strategies. Geometry is important as Booker, Bond, Sparrow and Swan (2010, p. 394) foresee as it allows children the prospect to engage in geometry through enquiring and investigation whilst enhancing mathematical thinking, this thinking encourages students to form connections with other key areas associated with mathematics and builds upon students abilities helping students reflect
1 I will always try to involve students in the assessment process. “Involving students in the assessment process is a key way of helping them to manage and ‘take ownership’ of their learning, by thinking about what they have achieved and planning ahead.” (Educational Scotland). Students have to know what their strengths and weaknesses are, in order to undertake appropriate action to reach their goals. Explaining what is going to be covered during the course and what are the expectations to gain the qualification will help them to feel responsible for their own learning.
Abstract My name is Michael as you know, today I am going discuss about why people hate math. Why student hate math, Is math important in our life, good and bad points of math. My question is why people hate math????? Even me myself doesn’t like math.
