The medias effect on natural disasters has dramatically helped people 's safety during devastating events. It lets people know the time and destructiveness of the incoming storm so they can be ready. Especially in today 's world, the technology has become so advanced, meteorologist and other storm trackers now have the ability to predict devastating hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. weeks before they happen. Even though natural disasters are damaging to property, media has given the ability to save human lives. Media has helped people all over the world become more prepared and alert for natural disasters. It is an obvious fact. But people tend to get too hung up on the pure fact that there was a crime committed in a school, and neglect the larger picture. "However if we apply the "big-picture" perspective to this issue, we realize that the more extreme breaches of school safety are only a very small part of a much larger issue" (Bluestein). The US has to realize that, yes school shootings are horrific, but isn 't all murder? The public needs to see the big picture in all of this, no violence is acceptable. The media absolutely changes people 's views on national disasters. Whether it is through TV networks that imply that they are Democratic or Republican like CNN and FOX, or because of politicians that only tell their side of the story that force people to believe a certain way. If a news media only tells the side of the story they want the public to believe, obviously the people watching it are only going to believe what they see and hear.
