There are many ways to classify medical specialties but the most common one is the division of Surgery and Internal medicine branches.
With all the sub-specialties that are currently emerging, it is quasi-impossible to list all of the medical specialties one could choose for pursuing the post-graduate studies. This has definitely made it harder for current medical students to be oriented towards a specialty.
In the following paragraph, a non-exhaustive list of current medical specialties is listed in alphabetical order:
• Allergy and Immunology : This specialty focuses on allergies, asthma and immune system disorders.[13]
• Anesthesiology: Focuses on perioperative anesthesia and studies anesthetics and pain management. [14]

• Ophthalmology: Branch of medicine that studies and treats disorders of the eye.
• Oral and maxillofacial Surgery: Surgical specialty that treats diseases and defects of the mouth, jaw and face.
• Orthopedic surgery: Branch concerned with the treatment of musculoskeletal system.
• Oto-rhino-laryngology (ENT): Treats Ear nose and throat disorders.
• Palliative Care: Emerging branch of medicine that focuses on ameliorating the quality of life of fatally ill patients not only physically but also psychologically.
• Pathology: Branch of diagnostic medicine that is concerned with diagnosis of disease based on the macroscopic, microscopic, chemical, immunologic, and molecular examination of tissue or organs.
• Pediatrics: Branch of medicine that takes care of children and their diseases.
• Pediatric surgery: Focuses on the diagnostic, operative and post-operative care of patients from prenatal diagnosis until the age of adolescence.
