Essay On Microprocessor

A microprocessor is the important component of a modern personal computer. The microprocessor combines with the functions of a central processing unit – a part of computer which is responsible in controlling the programmed instructions, onto a solitary coordinated circuit that combines the imperative thinking gadgets about the machine with the electrical foundation expected to support them. Just like other components of personal computer, the microprocessor has its own history and it has made human’s life more efficient and great. Microprocessor is semiconductor equipment including of electronic logic circuits made by techniques, for example large scale integration (LSI) or very large scale integration. It is also able to perform computing …show more content…

Besides, these computing technologies were only used in bigger scaled companies as it was extremely expensive. Microprocessors were classified into five generation. The first microprocessor (4-bit chips) was created in 1960s by Intel. The first microprocessor would operate at a clock speed of 108 KHz. Although IBM was one of the successful companies in the early, but it was Intel, created the first microprocessor technology. The power of microprocessor is measured in bits. Bits are referred to the basic unit of coded instructions (binary 1s and 0s). Computer carries out tasks through these coded instructions. A powerful processor enables more instructions to be carried out which leads to faster and effective processing. In spite of the fact that 4-bit chips were fairly simple, they offered weight to the prophetic expectation known as Moore's Law, foreseeing that the limit of coordinated circuits (and hence, of PCs) would twofold at regular intervals. However, there were not TTL compatible processors (Elprocus, 2013). In 1972, the 8-bit microprocessor (8008) was released by Intel. These were most popular ones during the year 1974 to
