Modernism and postmodernism are two types of evolution that manifest certain divergence between them and they are based on the shift in cultural and social behavior around the world. Both modernism and postmodernism took place in late 19th and 20th centuries. The main difference between modernism and postmodernism is that modernism is distinguished by the total break from the traditional forms of prose and verse or literature whereas postmodernism is distinguished by the self-conscious use of earlier styles and conventions. Different factors or principles made them think in different manners than they were thinking (Hasa,2016). Modernism is traditionally related to the Enlightenment which describes a collection involving cultural actions that took place in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries mainly in North America and Europe. According to Hasa (2016), “Modernism marks a strong and deliberate break from the traditional styles of prose and poetry. The horrors of the First World War and the changing ideas about reality are developed by prominent figures such as Charles Darwin, Sigmund Freud, Karl Marx, etc.” (p. 1). Modernism burgeoned between the 1860s and 1940s - ideally till 1945 when World War II ended. The literary works were given prioritize at that time. Apart from that, modernism paid a lot of surveillance to the original works which includes the paintings, architecture, poetry, and sculpture. As a matter of fact, original art was regarded as the primary creations during modernism period. Also, modernism trusted in learning from the past experiences. The modernists or modern thinkers talented in logical thinking when it comes to thinking and reasoning.
