I. Abstract Motion sensing is the technique in which a system detects a change in position of an object with respect to its surroundings. This paper gives an overview of motion sensors and some of the applications that have been studied by scholars. II. Introduction Motion sensing is the process of detecting a change in position of an object with respect to its surroundings, or, change in the surroundings with respect to the object. Motion can be sensed in several ways: i. Infrared sensing using passive or active sensors ii. Vibration sensing using seismic sensors iii. Sound sensing using acoustic sensors and microphones iv. Optics sensing using video camera systems Motion sensing is classified into following types: i. Local motion sensing: …show more content…
Problems faced Motion sensing, though a breakthrough technology, faces several challenges as of now; which can be stated as follows: a) Sensor Obstruction: if the sensor is blocked, it cannot detect any motion within its range. This blockage could be as trivial as an insect resting on the motion sensor. b) Dirty Sensor: sensors exposed to external environment are highly prone to becoming dirty, which has the same effect as a blockage. c) False Motion: any type of motion could trigger an alarm. So if a curtain blows or a window shuts close due to a windy day, the sensors detect that and can raise an unwanted alarm. d) False heat signature: instead of being triggered by natural motion, some sensors are triggered by change in temperature of the surroundings. In such a system, if there is a fireplace, the alarm could trigger unnecessarily. e) Battery life: life of a motion sensor is entirely dependent on the batteries, in case they are powered by them. f) False daylight: on several security lights, sensors save on battery life by switching off when the light in a given area approximates daylight. So if sometimes, at night, a security light fails to get switched on, it could be because of another source of life triggering the shut
The user’s or device’s pose must be measured accurately, robustly and in real-time. Most mobile phones today are equipped with built-in cameras, which naturally lend to use computer vision based approaches for tracking. Tracking fiducial markers is a common strategy to achieve robustness and computational efficiency simultaneously. The ARToolKitPlus library was developed based on the well known open source ARToolKit library. It was ported to the Windows CE environment, optimized for the mobile phone platform and heavily extended with features that support mobility, such as automatic thresholding or large amounts of markers.
Have you ever had the suspicious feeling that someone was watching you? More often than not, it is just your mind playing tricks on you. With the introduction of so many new smart-technology products, it might not just be your mind playing tricks on you. These advancements in technology allowing for smart phones, smart TVs, smart watches, smart speakers, and even smart toilets have come at a great cost: our right to privacy in our own homes. Most of us purchase these products because they are the popular trend at the time.
Bill Cosby is terrified that one of his alleged victims or one of their supporters may try to do him bodily harm so he has hidden himself away in his Massachusetts home. Radar Online, June 6, 2016, reports his security alarm is tripped numerous times, to instantly alert police of a potential intruder inside the Cosby home. Last year, around 20 calls have come into the Shelburne Police Department from Bill and his wife Camille’s property.
The powerful words “trust, but verify” were once said by former United States President Ronald Reagan. These words need to be used for all situations and people. In order for there to be trust and a way to verify what happens between the police officers and citizens, police body cameras need to be worn. Technology is advanced as it has ever been and there is now a way for police officers to wear a camera right on their uniform. This technology must be taken advantage of for the benefits it provides to police officers and citizens.
Are body cameras an invasion of privacy to the officers and to the public? Do they help when civilians make false accusations against officers? These are the types of questions that are frequently asked about body cameras. In today 's society, many citizens believe that the use of body cameras is in invasion of privacy, while others think they can be really helpful.
The temperature may vary from place to place in DC and hence the mapping of physical properties H: P × t × {x, y, z} → I, where {x, y, z} represents a point in the coordinate space. Mapping in G can be determined by the result of the algorithm whereas mapping in H determined by the physical process or through signal processing. The traditional goals of integrity, availability and confidentiality are interpreted for CPS. The lack of integrity leads to deception where the authorized user receives false data and accepts that as true. When the system results in DoS, it refers to the lack of availability and not compromise their services [3].Let y indicate the sensor measurement and u the control command sent to the actuator.
From these functions, the required data needed was inclination, angular velocity and linear acceleration. For inclination, we directly used the Euler vector function which gives data in 0-359 ͦ. For angular velocity, vector gyroscope function was used. This function directly gives data in rad⁄sec which was required for finding angular velocity of the sensor. Finally, for linear acceleration, function called vector linear acceleration was used. Figure below shows the VECTOR-EULER function used for getting the required inclination values from the sensor.
Cameras: Cameras are required to protect the building. These cameras would be a deterrent for criminals and are beneficial for legal reasons. Also, the cameras can provide proof that if an issue does occur that it not because of neglect from the owners and the cameras
Technology will evolve, as it is in its natural way to do so. Thus, in the car manufacturing area the purpose for the near future is to produce autonomous cars. People love the idea of making driving more enjoyable and comfortable, and less stressing by continuously keeping the steering wheel and pushing the pedals. Having such technology available is great, but everyone is thinking about comfort, enjoyment and pleasure of traveling by car. There are more sensitive matters that must be discussed regarding autonomous cars, and some of them are responsibility and ethics.
Credibility I myself experienced this where the lack of surveillance made me vulnerable to evil doers. Many years ago, my gadget was robbed at a shopping mall and I was unable to find the criminal since no one witnessed the incident. C. Preview/Thesis Now, with my atrocious experience, I am here to encourage you to support the use of Closed Circuit Televisions or CCTVs in public areas by presenting its applications in increasing security and to clarify that its usage is not a breach of privacy. Accessibility is a concept that essentially applies to the customization of products, services, appliances and environments in a way that enables them to be used by people who have various types of disabilities. Effectively speaking, these products and services are designed in such a manner that enables people with special needs to gain both ‘direct’ as well as ‘indirect’ access to them. At the same time, the benefits of accessibility also extend to a wider category of individuals such as senior citizens and medical patients. Assistive technology is a term that is closely associated with the concept of accessibility. For instance, the application of assistive technology is what makes electronic equipment such as computer screen readers accessible to all categories of end users, including those with disabilities or special needs.
In this essay I will write about the strengths and weaknesses of perception as a way of knowing. Perception is the way we perceive the world through our senses. We use all five of our senses, which are sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch to understand the world and interpret it. We can then say it’s a Primary way of knowledge. We can also say that, because the senses is the way our body communicates, we have at least three more senses: kinesthetic sense, which is our awareness of our body’s dimensions and movement; vestibular sense, which is the awareness of the human’s balance and spacial orientation; and organic sense, which is the manifest of the internal organs (for example, hunger or thirst).
Technology nowadays is only getting smarter and better as the years go by; driverless cars are a big success for people that have been trying to make this happen for years. Even though driverless cars exist now and have been being tested on, many companies have not worked out all the bugs on them so driverless cars are yet to be released until companies can ensure the safety of the owners of the car and the other drivers on the road. Driverless cars could possibly lessen traffic and also lessen deaths and car accidents that happen around the world. Self driving cars were always a talk of the future and the future is now. What are driverless cars?
Therefore, the [4] had done the research on intelligent security system that offers a high level of home security using visual surveillance. II. LITERATURE REVIEW/ COMPARISONS OF VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS In study propose by [2] represents a real time video surveillance system consists of a few wireless video cameras and many sensors. The system lets a group of sensor that work together to identify and track mobile objects and then updating their positions to the sink node in the WSNs.
It will check the people in the room and according to that light will be adjusted. It also has the sensor like, if anyone enters the room light will be on. 4.Smart
