My first core value is Excellence. For me, excellence is the fact to set high standard for our own achievement by the same time believe that each occasion is an opportunity of growth. The difficulties that I encounter with this values is first, people definition of excellence. An example can be the definition of excellence according to the school. The part where it is stated that “we recognize others achievements” bothers me a lot. Can someone really judge myself as excellent or not? I do not think that others can measure either I am excellent or not. Secondly, another obstacle is the meaning of the word “excellence”. It is very vague. Thirdly, a problem is that I am excellent compared to myself or compared to other? How can I know that I am excellent (without considering this …show more content…
I prefer to use respect that humility because I do think that no one on the earth is properly humble. For me Respect fit better with my personality in the sense that I define it as the fact to consider an individual as the same level as you or how you will like people to treat you if you had the same appearance, political status, job, age, etc. Obstacles that I encounters in term of achieving this values is people culture. In my countries saying “mum or madam” to someone is sign of respect. However, in some culture saying the same words is sign of insults as telling to the women in front of you that she is old. Second concern could be how society opinion about you. For example, helping a Sodexo stuff to carry a dirt bag can be seeing by people as a lack of consideration of yourself or can see you as coming from a poor financial status background. The third obstacle I encounter is the environment. In fact, by spending time in an environment where people do not have this notion of respect can be destructive. I now fell that walking along with this value is becoming hard. I tell myself now that “It is the job of the Sodexo members to do
AVID is a program not intended for everyone. This program exposes you to a variety of skills and mastery for adolescents desiring to attend college. Avid focuses around organization, teamwork, and for you to critically think. These skills are new to many and are provenly beneficial, however these skills do not favor those that have already had these skills and are show casing their full potential. Therefore, Avid is not for me since it interferes with my academic courses, mastery of avid skills and would not be beneficial for me because I have gained much of the skills and would rather interfer than assist.
Respect is a word that has a lot of depth to it no matter what way you use it. The word by definition is kind of hard to pin down concretely because it is subjective, and it can be used in many different ways with many different meanings based on the usage. It is a word that everybody wants a piece of no matter how big or small the piece they get is. All definitions aside, the respect that most people want is the respect that is earned by the showing of honorable actions or personality characteristics. Be it dedication and sacrifices for one’s job or ones moral and ethical views and principles.
No one became great overnight and we all have to start somewhere, that little start might be the start
I want to be part of the SHS board of officers because not only do I take pride and jubilance from my spanish heritage and background, but I work arduously to be a salient member of anything I am a part of. I want to learn from others and gain more responsibility to ensure me a more auspicious future. I believe that by being in such an honorable society and as an officer, I can impact my peers as well as gain knowledge from others and their different cultures. As a current member of the Spanish Honor Society, I have already left a mark, by being published in the March edition of Albricias for a drawing. There have been a myriad of instances where I have displayed my leadership qualities.
Respect honors the worth of an individual no matter who they are. Likewise, equity involves fairness to all regardless of their weaknesses. Equity requires the quality of fairness, and not taking advantage of those lesser. These two ethical values have been transgressed by society in both cases because they targeted those who were inferior, punished even the innocent and selfishly abused their targets. To prevent the occurrence of alienation of social groups in the future, one must interact with others through respect and equity.
To Respect or to be a Kiss Up “Treat others the way you want to be treated. ” We’ve all heard that overused phrase growing up. The same goes for me as well, and to me, respect has been a huge part of my culture and many other Asian cultures. Respect is the root of what makes people who they are today. It shows that you admire them, that you care for them, or possibly even fear them.
In my academia, it is apparent that I have excelled farther than most. I have retained
This semester has been an ongoing challenge for me but has been an enjoyable one and I have not been presented with any impossible tasks. I have never been much of a writer, and during the course of this semester, I 've struggled to meet length requirements on the assigned essays. However, I do understand that not everyone is an excellent writer or even has to enjoy writing to get a good grade in this 1A class. From the start, with the first essay, I pushed myself to do my best and looked to multiple outlets to polish my writing, such as the online tutor, the writing center, the internet and the writer 's handbook.
Respect is a big part of our lives still. Although the presence of many of the virtuous Native American values is very meager today, this one still exists as a miniscule glimmer across our lives. One must have respect for others to first have respect for themselves. You make a choice of how people will see you: as a incorrigible person, or as a respectful person. People will usually treat you accordingly.
Although, in today 's society disrespect is more common that is not the case for everyone. Respect is something that people have or they do not; it is mainly taught
It was at this exact moment when I experienced my watershed moment. It was at this exact moment when I realized how even the things that we hate doing the most, are absolutely necessary to us because they define who we are as a person. I realized the issue with my life was not that I wasn’t intelligent, or that I was untalented at gymnastics, or that I had poor multitasking skills or an inability to cope with stress. My issue was my inability to want to get the best out of the advantages that the sport brought me. I had lived my entire life without realizing that all the work that I was putting into the gym was to eventually gain something greater.
What does writing mean to me? Writing means getting people engaged in your piece. It means people wanting to keep reading what you wrote. The biggest thing about writing to me is expressing your thoughts and letting your mind go. Using good word choice and having a strong voice in the writing is something that makes it good.
Academic success to me is achieving good grades and understanding the material to get good grades. Academic success also means to have an good attendance. I already get mostly A’s and B’s, but I am not good at staying on top of things. To improve my academic success I will attend class more often, be more organized, pay attention in class, and not procrastinate.
In school, if I treat a teacher with respect, they might favor bumping your grade up from a high B+ to an A-. When I make friends, I have to be respectful as well. If I act rude and condescending, then no one would want to be my friend. As humans, we are heavily social animals and our level of success in our lives depend on how well we can work with others. Having respect is a major aspect of this social interaction, making it very important.
Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
