“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” This quote by William Arthur Ward rings true to every teacher that I have ever had. It is the goal of every teacher to make an impact on their students and to be remembered. For some it is easier than it is for others. Through my educational experience I have had plenty of great teachers, however there is one special educator that comes to mind when thinking about someone who has shaped me into the person I am today. I had no teaching background and was expected to manage a classroom of 20 students my age. The experience itself was very hard and awkward. It was difficult to manage the classroom with authority over my own peers. It was very hard for the students to take me seriously. With this being said, I would not change this experience for anything in the world. This experience made me grow so much not only in my understanding of the course material, but also helped me learn countless valuable life lessons. The experience taught me patience, courage, and to always believe in myself. I had to have patience while working with students who had never seen the material before. I had to have lots of courage in order to stand up and teach in front of my peers every day for 3 months. Most importantly, this experience made me realize I am capable of more than I give myself credit for. Courage, patience, and confidence are three things that I believe make a good teacher great. With the help of Mr. Hacker, I was able to gain these three characteristics throughout the three months that I helped out in his classroom. I truly believe this experience has helped shape myself as a student and a person. This occurrence also inspired me to become a teacher so one day I am able to inspire a student the way Mr. Hacker inspired

The book Choice Words by Peter H Johnson challenges teachers to think about the words that they say because teachers have such a powerful influence on how children see themselves. Teachers undoubtedly are a very influential part of child’s life. The words that teachers say (and don’t say) influence a child way beyond the time that he or she is in their classroom. For example, my daughter is in the second grade; she has vivid memories of all of her teachers. She remembers their character and how they made her feel.
The Glass Castle is a nonfiction book written by Jeanette Walls where she tells the shocking story about her family and their struggle to provide for themselves. This heartbreaking and touching story includes horrific stories about what Jeanette and her siblings endured throughout their childhood. Jeanette is the second oldest of her other siblings, Maureen, Brian, and Lori. Jeanette is the daughter of Rex and Rose Mary Walls, Rex an alcoholic, and Rose Mary, a painter. While reading through this story and getting to know Jeanette’s family and all the people she encountered throughout her childhood really showed me how tough and brave Jeanette truly is.
I learned what it took to be successful, that I couldn 't just go through the motions. I learned one of the most important lessons of my college career thus far, and it is this- in order to be successful here (at Texas A&M), you must immerse yourself in every lesson, every lecture, every class. Everything must be 100%, and not a second should go to waste. Each moment is a moment to learn and to better yourself and your knowledge. There will be concepts that you just don 't understand, and when that road block is reached, immediate action must be taken; there 's a commonly spoken line that I never really listened to until recently, and that line is, "don 't be afraid to ask for help!"

As an educator, I will be remembered for my knowledge and passion that I have for my core subject that I intend to teach. I plan to teach my students in a way that is engaging and easy to understand. I plan to make sure that all student’s learning needs are addressed in instruction and any student that needs extra help will receive that help from a teacher or mentor. I will make an impact on students who have struggled and were told they were not going to achieve academic success, by providing them with resources and opportunities to assist them in their educational journey. I also will be remembered for my efforts of continuously seeking knowledge to better instruct my students.
“If excellence is possible, then good is not enough!” This was my seventh grade math teacher’s mantra. Her encouragement of excellence and love of teaching was one of the biggest influences in my decision to become a teacher. The other great influence in my career choice was my diagnosis of dyslexia in the second grade. School became a place that I strongly disliked and I oftentimes was discouraged due to the fact that everything was a struggle to me.
Chapter Five-The Quiet Man (76-89) As I was reading this I was thinking that it was written just for me. In the past I was the kind of person that had something to say about everything. I am working on this and reading this chapter made the point even clearer to me. Teacher or anybody for that matter need to listen more and talk less. When we as teachers start getting frustrated we should stop and think about the frustrations the students are going through and make those teachable moments.

Being an outstanding teacher goes beyond acquiring the competence and knowledge to deliver rigorous academic instruction to a diverse group of students. Outstanding teachers possess a multitude of qualities making them unique and unforgettable to the children they serve. Not only children learn from teachers, teachers also need to learn from children. A successful teacher is willing to learn. In the first days I got too angry with me if things did not go well, I cried all the first semester I started to be a teacher, it was just I did not feel secure and confident within me and students detect that in a moment, so they made it rough and a challenge that I simply had to master. By the second semester I taught crying stopped, of course I never cried in front of them just at home to myself. The point is for me I started in this business with no prior training after getting out from chemical engineering undergraduate school, so it took me about a whole year to figure it out. Later on by my own I started reading about teaching techniques, and blogs of teachers, and talked to my peers, and made a lot of mistakes on the way, still make them. It is just I learned it by doing it I did not go to a special school for them to show me how to be a teacher.
Throughout my training, I implemented various strategies for engaging students in small groups and rigorous lessons. My role as a teacher is to communicate effectively, be respectful, and have self-worth and confidence. I did fear making wrong choices throughout this field experience. I set high expectations the students to achieve high goals. Teaching to me opened doors to many students’ lives.
