My Life in the Air, So Far Aviation impacts the lives of almost every person in some shape of form. For some it strictly represents a means of transportation, for others, a job or a hobby. Almost everyone has had some association with aviation whether it be simply living near an airport, or just gazing up at airliners flying on a clear day. Of these people, children and adults alike, many dream to fly for themselves, and some act upon it. Many different ways exist to get interested in aviation, but for myself, I was born into it.
My great, great uncle Hobie had the first airplane in Mahaska county, IA, which he crashed on his first takeoff and never flew again. Much because of Hobie, my grandfather decided to get his pilot's license when

In preparation for the test, I used the Gleim Private Pilot Knowledge Test book, and the Sporty’s DVD set. As a Junior in Highschool, I usually am a very structured person so not having a teacher, or any set due dates was a challenge for me. I fluctuated multiple times between watching the Sporty’s videos and studying in the Gleim book, but ultimately for me the videos were the most helpful. Now, it was Christmas break, and because of school I had not got nearly as much preparing done as I should for the Knowledge Test. I wanted to take the test soon because my 17th birthday is coming up in April, when I can get my pilot's license if I have all of the various requirements taken care of. My dad and I talked about it, and decided the best thing to do would be to take an Aviation Seminars Test Prep Course over a weekend in January, and take the test the following Monday. I would highly recommend taking a Test Prep course, as for me it eased my mind about passing the test, and while the course involved two very long days, as a student I found it much more interesting than two days of High School. Ultimately, I passed the test with a …show more content…
Before I go to college I would like to earn instrument and commercial ratings, and be a certified flight instructor. Currently, I plan to attend Iowa State University for Aerospace Engineering, and I hope flight instruction can be a part time job while there. However, I am unsure where I will go after college. Aerospace engineering could lead to my dream job, an astronaut, but I have also considered a career as an airline pilot. I don’t know if I ever will fly professionally, but I know I will always enjoy flying a simple, antique airplane on a beautiful summer evening with the wind in my
He was the first person to do such a daring feat and it paid off. It gave the impression that flying was safe. Without this added security I'm sure we’d miss out on all the great things planes had to offer us such as faster transportation of goods and ourselves! In the 1930’s agricultural recovery was a bittersweet intervention.
Their impressive performance earned them more than 150 Flying Crosses, and they helped encourage the eventual expanse of the U.S. armed forces. During the 1920s and 1930s, the exploits of record-setting pilots like Charles During the 1920s and ‘30s, the exploits of record-setting pilots like Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart had aroused the nation, and thousands of young men and women came running to follow in their footsteps. I rebuilt the pie after the ALEKS assessment after I took the assessment on ALEKS without notes so that I could practice the skills I had forgotten and ensure I was retaining material. Also, I reviewed concepts on top of that in ALEKS that I struggles with in order to get more practice with concepts I thought I struggled with. In addition, I did the practice exam as a pretest in order to test myself and practice for the exam. I also did the Exam 3 Knowledge Survey in order to prepare and I focused during my study time, working solely on chemistry. Also, I also did the problems in the back of the book in order to get more practice.
Feng Ru spent long hours just to pursue his dream. Hearing of the Wright brother’s success, inspired Feng to become the first Chinese aviator. Feng never gave up , even when the San Francisco earthquake and fire forced him to relocate to a much smaller workshop. Or when his plane crashed. Feng never gave up he just started all over again even if it took all day.
In the 1920’s people were thinking about a transatlantic flight, and that is when businessman raymond Orteig issued a reward of $25,000 for the first crew to fly from New York to Paris (Lindbergh). In 1927 Charles Lindbergh even with all odds against him flew a plane called The Spirit of St. Louis from New York to Paris and won the Orteig prize of $25,000. This event is what got charles Lindbergh known not just in the aviation community, but all over the world. He became a hero, but he wasn’t just a pilot. Charles Lindbergh was an outspoken isolationist and was against American involvement in World War II.
Before the exam, I had been practicing almost every day. Even after all the practicing, I was still quite worried I would fail the exam. Despite my thoughts, everyone seemed to think I would do wonderfully. My parents thought I was
Daniel “Chappie” James Jr All throughout history, all kinds of people have made a difference in this world. The marks they have left and the changes they have made are extraordinary. However, countless amounts of people’s efforts and hard work are not acknowledged due to the color of their skin. Black history month is an opportunity to celebrate those who have not let discrimination and racism stop them from changing the world.
I was going to be performing at a May Day Celebration that was sponsored by the local Negro Welfare League. I made plans, in preparation of the event, to have a test flight on April 30, 1926 to have a test flight with my mechanic. On the day of the test flight, I was ecstatic because I was finally going to see what was underneath me in the air. William Wills, my young Texas mechanic, met up with me and we made the game plan.
Who knew planes could fly over a major financial crash! As it turns out, they did. Planes were a new mode of transportation that was introduced by the Wright Brother and was finding its place in the world as most great inventions do. Though as it turns out, it was during the Great Depression this industry flourished and began to integrate into the lives of the american people. Planes were new to the scene and need to fill a demand.
We learned the material in class and was assigned homework everyday. However, when the test came along, the results I obtained were devastating. Test after test, I kept getting C’s, D’s and even E’s. Every time I get a bad test score back, I would shrug it off. “The next test will be better,” I kept telling myself.

I suppose when i used to think of cultural identity, i perceive it as what racial background we come from, what race we are. Whether it’s Mexican, Asian, French, etc… I assumed it meant what special foods we eat, and events or activities we participate in according to our background. Little did i know this is a misconception; quite a common one actually. Cultural identity is actually how you live your life and how you express yourself, the things you enjoy that make you, you. I am someone who enjoys many things, ranging from A-Z.
