WHAT ARE NATURAL RESOURCES? A natural resource is something that is found in nature and can be used by people. Earth’s natural resources are light, air, water, plants, animals, soil, stone, minerals, and fossil fuels. People need some natural resources to stay alive. They use others to make their lives better. Every place on Earth has its own unique group of natural resources. Renewable resources are energy resources which cannot be used up and can be used again and again. Non-renewable resources are energy resources which can be used up one day and cannot be used often. The level of freshwater resources available will become as scarce. SOLUTIONS TO SAVING FORESTS: The process of deforestation can be reversed, by replanting the trees. Most deforested areas, if left alone, will eventually restore to fertile landscape. We can certainly plant more trees -- a process called reforestation. Solutions to try and save forests: Eco-forestry -- where only carefully selected trees are cut down and are transported with very little damage to the area; the forest ecosystem is protected while commercial timber removal is still enabled. Green business -- focuses on recycled paper and wood products, wood choices and environmentally responsible protection of consumers. Land use planning -- recommend environmentally friendly development techniques, such as reduction of urban and suburban sprawl. Community forestry -- where concerned citizens come together to manage and participate in keeping their local forests practical and
