As we all know, English as a language subject, its main purpose is to study the expression of communication, so students develop good oral communication skills in English is very important. “English Curriculum” also point out that English is to focus on curriculum reform change too much emphasis on English grammar and vocabulary to explain and important knowledge, to ignore the actual language proficiency of students in the cultivation of the tendency of curriculum from the student interest in learning, life experience and the starting level of knowledge, advocacy experience, practice, participation, cooperation and exchange of learning and task-based teaching approach, the development of comprehensive language proficiency of students. In the elementary schools children learn how to convey meaning to other people either by writing or speaking. They improve interpersonal relationships and learn how to share knowledge, feelings and opinions. The steps are interrelated, each dependent upon the preceding one.
Sharing one’s language or communication problems with persons known to them helps learners in many ways. They can gain confidence, learn useful tips from their peers, develop speaking skills and gets help to overcome their communication anxiety. Most students said that group sharing sessions were therapeutic and useful.
The components of the course are oral presentation, group discussion, interviews and computer-assisted English language learning. At the end of the course students are tested in group discussion and oral presentation and the students’ performance is assessed by external examiners. As the main objective is to develop students’ employability skills, the need for teaching the course as life skills arose.
In my opinion, teachers of English must possess the following communication skills: proficiency in English, positive motivation, effective body language, sense of humor, interpersonal skills,
