This summer I read “Percy Jackson and the Olympians – The Lightning Thief” translated into German and written by Rick Riordan. The story is about Perseus “Percy” Jackson, a 12 year old who has dyslexia and ADHD. Percy lives in New York and often finds himself kicked out of school because of mysterious reasons. During a school field trip, Percy’s best friend Grover gets bullied by a girl named Nancy Bobofit. In the attempts to protect his friend, Percy tries to help but a fountain next to Nancy grabs her. Nancy blames this on Percy and tells the Pre-Algebra teacher, Mrs. Dodds. When Mrs. Dodds seperates Percy from the group to talk to him, she turns into a Furie and attacks him. Luckily, Percy’s Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, throws Percy a pen that transforms into a sword when uncapped. With the new weapon, Percy kills Mrs. Dodds and goes back to the class. Ever since this incident, Grover and Mr. Brunner have been talking about him, and a mysterious stolen object.
