The first career path I chose to research is that of a pharmacist. I believe that being a pharmacist is a good fit for me because I have always wanted to work in the medical field. I learned that pharmacists work with chemistry and math on a daily basis. Since I enjoy those subjects in school, I would enjoy my job as a pharmacist. Someone told me that pharmacists have to be quite meticulous and I believe that I am capable of doing that. I don’t know everything about being a pharmacist, but doing some research has helped me learn more about the career. With all the research I’ve done, I actually became more interested in pursuing this career path. One entry level job associated with being a pharmacist is a pharmacy technician. Requirements for this position in California involve earning “an associate degree in pharmacy technology” or completing a certified pharmacy technician program. Another requirement is “registering with the California State Board of Pharmacy” for a license (Marotta, Ryan). Pharmacy technicians perform tasks such as “receiving written prescription or refill requests, verifying that information is complete and accurate, prepacking bulk medicines, filling bottles with prescribed medications, typing and affixing labels, and mixing pharmaceutical preparations” …show more content…
Earning a degree in a pharmacy type program is favorable as well as having the correct licenses. The lower level job leading up to a pharmacist is a pharmacist technician. According to Naviance Family Connection, technicians “prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist. They also may “measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders.” Being a technician before a pharmacist is not required, but the job does give a person more experience in the field. Most of the time, a person can receive the pharmacist position without lower level

I am currently a pharmacy technician in-training at Kroger Pharmacy, and plan to obtain my official technician license in December. I dispense medications, input patient 's information into the computer system, answer phone calls, maintain sanitation standards in the pharmacy, and help customers locate over the counter medications and supplies. Working at the pharmacy has taught me how to work efficiently in fast pace situations, how to prioritize what tasks neeed to be completed first, time management skills, and the names of
Pharmacists are increasingly being hired in very diverse settings. Remote order entry provides hospitals with access to the services of a remotely located pharmacist who can assist with the high volume of orders during first or second shifts. Traditionally, pharmacists are reimbursed for the prescriptions they fill, but mechanisms are becoming available to pay for clinical services. There are now ways to get reimbursed for services like diabetes management and medication therapy management (MTM). Additionally, the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 makes provisions for reimbursement of clinical services for Medicare participants.

The career field that I have chosen to go into is the medical field. In the medical field I would like to become a dental hygienist. The background that I have on dental hygienist is that you exam gums, clean teeth, and teach about oral care. The research that I have already done on this profession is a dental hygienist annual salary and required hour of work. Some more research I utilized is how many years of college are needed, what you do while at work, and if you work by yourself or who you work with.
Choosing a career in the medical field can very be overwhelming, there are a multitude of options. The job that is in demand the most is Registered Nurses. This degree, at the minimum, requires an associate’s degree. By the year 2020, all R.N.’s will need to have a BSN (Bachelors of Science in Nursing); Bachelor’s degree programs are 4-year programs. But don’t stop there, after 2-3 years of on the job experience, find what area you would like to specialize in, and go on and earn that Physician Assistant degree.

One of the responsibilities I would have as an medical assistant is answering telephones and dealing with patients. Other responsibilities I would have is greeting patients and updating/filing medical records. There is lots of education and training needed to become a medical assistant. One of the education and training needed to becoming a medical assistant is a high school diploma or GED.
The profession I have chosen to pursue is that of a Physician Assistant. My reason for this selection is because it gives you the independency of a Physician while having somewhat less responsibilities. A Physician Assistant provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Some of these services include but are not limited to examining and treating patients, diagnosing illnesses and counseling patients. In some case physician assistants are also tasked to prescribe medicine to patients.
I have always had somewhat of an interest in the medical field, but I never wanted to become a physician or pediatrician. A pharmacist is the perfect in between of being in the medical field but not being an actual doctor. Also, dealing with drugs and medicine has always seemed interesting to me for as long as I could remember. As I previously mentioned, pharmacists have job mobility, stability, and flexibility. Pharmacists are employed everywhere in the country, so it’s very likely that I get a job anywhere.
In short, I see myself not only being the future pharmacist, I am more to be a profession in a society as multifunctional, leaders, social technician, and reformers. I have an ability for foreign languages. As a matter of fact, I know English, Hindi, Gujarati, Swahili, Urdu, and Punjabi. My future learning goal is Spanish. My studies at the University of Wyoming will contribute a lot in getting a licensure to work in any state of pharmacy and pursuing my goals in the future to work for a chain pharmacy and maybe look into doing an anticoagulation clinic.
