People vary in terms of their physical appearance and personalities, and the words that are used to describe them are just as varied. When I look back, I see many important yet unrelated events that influenced my thoughts, beliefs and overall attitude. While I was actively working to achieve my goals I came across a few significant events that shaped my personality. In 2008 my father – serving in the Indian Armed Forces, was transferred to a remote location in Northeast India. I had to move to Hyderabad to continue my studies and was looked after by my grandmother. At that time my goal was very simple – to serve my country, like my father. My first affirmation was "To be positive at all times and to win over my anger". As a first step, I learned to receive everyone's criticism with a smile. Soon I started introspecting myself in different situations where I usually lose my patience. After weeks of persistence, I could observe the change, when people around me started treating me with more relevance and priority. Bolstered by my newly found strengths, I began my second year of Engineering on a cheerful note. I developed a deep interest in learning the concepts of Petroleum Engineering – especially Drilling Technology. Designing drill strings, drilling fluids and casings for different drilling profiles was very exciting to me. Soon I took up a departmental project in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and researched on “Plasma Pulse technology” – one of the most efficient EOR technologies. In 2015, I did an internship at ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.) on “Vertical and Directional Drilling Practices”. I was assigned to the mentor who worked at Bombay Offshore for nearly a decade. Apart from learning and performing oilfield operations, I used to discuss different geopolitical and national issues with my mentor.
