Police brutality
Police Brutality shows racism in the police department. Police brutality makes people of minority groups scared of the police. The effect of police brutality on the black community negatively affects the black community. All people feel the effect of police brutality because no matter where you are it happens all around every country has experienced police brutality. They all feel angry, terrified, and cautious. In 2022, more than 1,100 people were killed by police violence, some people say that police officers are just doing their job but, really it's just police brutality. Racial disparity in the police force, Black Americans are 3% more likely to get attacked by police

Police officers tear gas citizens in Minneapolis after they crowded the streets protesting after George Floyd was killed by police officers. Nigerians tear gassed by the police in Nigeria when they were protesting a change for their county. Police officers tear gas citizens since they will get away with it since the government doesn’t do anything about it. They are the one who supplies their resources for them. Not one US state complies with non use of lethal weapons and even if they do use it they rarely face consequences. They can kill people, barely anyone even gets fired for it at most they will and they are transferred to another station but they don't go to jail and they are rarely fired for misuse of a …show more content…
Even when they have been attacked or shot at they feel they can’t use the police since of the attacks their people have faced from the police. Many Black people are terrified of walking home if they live in “white neighborhoods'' since they will get stopped by officers for going to their house since a lot of white people feel as if they don’t belong there because of their color. They can’t drive without police stopping them. The officers see their color and they pull them out of the car and the police think they are being aggressive since they don’t know what they did and then they end up getting shot at because of the color of their skin. After covid hit Asians faced horrible discrimination they were spit at in stores and they were told to go home to their own country they felt as if they couldn’t go to the police since almost all of the officers are white and they don’t feel safe the law force is impartial since there aren’t many people of minority groups and when there is some of them have quit after the unfair treatment they have faced in the force. The community experiences depression, anxiety since it affects their community after an attack. When someone in their community gets attacked, they feel attacked since they are in the same minority group as them and they feel that something like that could happen to them too. The death of George Floyd
As an African American citizen, I am deeply impacted by the current events. It is another example of how African Americans are treated in a country we built. I believe officers still carry stereotypes society has created among the race. I also believe training is lacking within the Police Department. What surprised me the most, was how quick the investigation and invasion of Micah Xavier Johnson’s home was completed.
A news report released by CNN on April 10, 2015 displayed three examples of use of force abuse by on duty officers. Of these three incidents the results were a man dying in police custody after a dog allegedly mauled him, a mentally ill man being was shot dead after his family called police asking for help, and an officer who shooting into a vehicle after a car chase, killing a man who was initially suspected of drunk driving. Of all three incidents the deceased happened to all be Black men. Incidents like so have led to the formation of groups like Black Lives Matter. Instances such as these open up debate about if police are using excessive force based upon the suspect’s race.
There is a point in everyone’s life where they are scared of a police officer pulling them over. The fear is usually getting a costly ticket or taken under arrest; However, darker skinned citizens now have to worry about police brutality. Police brutality is the use of excessive and unnecessary force by police when dealing with civilians. Over the years, the country has been exposed to the truth about what minorities face when pulled over by a racist police officer. Most of the victims from the police mistreatment are from minority groups, therefore, race plays a key role in police brutality.
Police Brutality in the United States of America Police brutality has been a problem in the United States of America for a long time. The regulations that cops should abide by hasn’t changed, but the actions of officers have. Police officers have a different view of the rules that they should follow. The power that police have has gone to their heads, and they take advantage of the power. Police are needed in America because of how society is, but there are things that the police do that shows a complete misuse of their power.
Marshall Lewis Mrs. Gallos English 3 March 20, 2018 Police Brutality I have done my research on police brutality. Even though there is not enough being done, Police brutality should be more heavily enforced against because cases of brutality are way too common. Police brutality has become a growing problem all over the country but it is not just in America, it can be found worldwide. The biggest problem with police brutality is that too many officers are getting away with extreme violence with very little if any reprimandations. There are some steps being taken to combat the problem but not enough is being done to make a large impact.
While in a chokehold, “Garner repeatedly told officers I can’t breathe, eventually he lost consciousness”(Eric Garner dies in NYPD Chokehold). The killing of Tamir Rice a 12 year old black boy who was shot by white police officers in Ohio. (What is police brutality?) Rice was playing with a toy gun in a park when police officers arrived at the scene and shot him within seconds of their encounter. The killing of George Floyd captured on video and witnessed by millions, ignited widespread protest against police violence and systemic racism.
It is this authority that is leading to the continued problem of police violence. Police brutality in North America is one of the most serious human rights violations. Police officers have engaged in unjustified shootings, severe beatings, fatal chokings, and unnecessarily rough treatment motivated by discriminatory practices.
The truth is no one regardless of race deserves to be mistreated by the police. The reality is that citizens did not merely prefer to live in neighborhoods with poverty-stricken housing arrangements, underperforming schools, substructures that are collapsing by the minute, few grocery stores that provide healthy options, and proper medical care. There were many factors that shaped those neighborhoods such as white departure, the black breakout of wealthier black citizens, no investment within the community, slack business loaning systems and government strategies that are allocating groundwork and public transport to certain parts of cities and not others locations. The people that are living in those communities, even at times stuck in those communities make decisions that are not the best for them or those connected to them. These decisions are made within that environment for the sake of survival.
This stark reality has led to widespread protests across the country demanding justice for victims of police violence. On the other hand, the public claim that officers often use deadly force as a last resort after attempting non-lethal methods first. Additionally, they assert that many incidents involving police shootings are justified and necessary to maintain public

One of the greatest challenges law enforcement are facing is providing effective policing for minority communities. Some factors that prevent minorities from gaining access to justice or being taken advantage of certain criminal justice services are language barriers, racial stereotyping, and cultural differences. Since the 30 's and 40 's, and even during the 60 's, civil rights activists damaged the police-minority relations in the United States, believing that police only interest are protecting white communities. A big explanation of why there 's a poor police-minority relations in the United States is racism on the part of the individual officers. Many minorities in the United States have continued to complain about being treated more harshly than whites and the Department of Justice believes that racial profiling and police discrimination will continue to be a big problem.
The fear that is the root of police brutality is built from racial bias and discrimination in the targeting and killing of unarmed Black people. The most fearful realization of it all is the failure to hold police
The police power ought to be an impression of the community. Thus, if a community has a substantial amount of African Americans, there ought to be a proportionate number of African Americans on the police force. Be that as it may, cops of any race soon wind up plainly bored on the off chance that they work in high crime rate areas. The police typically just interact with the most noticeably bad looking of the community, the general population they capture. What's more they are presented to some terrible occasions murder, assault, and kid manhandle.
An occurrence observed by the population of Los Angeles, California conveys the existence of racism and police brutality. According to The Polls-Trends: Racial Differences in Attitudes Toward the Police, “…three quarters of blacks, but only 38 percent of whites, continued to view police brutality as a common occurrence” (Tuch and Weitzer
As a result, there is a drastic increase of violent outburst between both sides. For the last years, it was reported that 51.5 percent of black were killed by police officers (ibtimes.com). On the other hand, there have been 51,548 assaults against law enforcement and it resulted in 14,453 injuries in 2015 alone (nleomf.org). In the United States, recently, police brutality has been a popular subject all over the news and social media.
