In the journey of life, I’ve noticed that many a times, we’re too harsh on ourselves, we beat ourselves up with destructive self-talk and abuse our bodies through wrong choices. These behaviours not only hamper our mental and physical well-being, but also mess with our work and relationships.

In order to build a healthy relationship with yourself, you must first recognize your needs. With a lack of self-love, you’re ignorant towards your own needs and prioritize those of others, simply spreading yourself too thin. Self-love is essentially about recognizing your personal needs and making them a priority. It’s about doing what really works for you.
4. Set Healthy Boundaries
As you’ll begin to love yourself more each day, it’ll be easier for you to identify what is good and what is not good for you. In other words, the more you love yourself, the lesser you will tolerate other people walking all over you or disrupting your positive energy. You will begin to understand what you can and cannot accept in your life. Begin by journaling a list of all the things that are healthy for your mental and physical growth and set healthy boundaries with others.

Chapter two in the textbook Reflect & Relate an Introduction to Interpersonal Communication by Steven McCornack talks all about what “self” is and how to achieve complete fulfillment for one’s self which is also known as self-actualization. The components of self, as described in the book are, “ . . . self-awareness, self-concept, and self-esteem” (McCornack 39). Self-awareness is the idea in which one can take a moment to move feelings, beliefs, and other external influences aside and just evaluate oneself in a holistic perspective that is not skewed by opinions of others, etc. Having the ability to actually think about who one is brings a lot of power and mental stability in such a way that allows for improvement.
Everyone has a problem or question that he has not yet found a solution or an answer to; everyone has something that he is uncertain about. Like many, there are problems and questions about religion, science, and love that I would like to solve, but one of the questions that has most negatively impacted my life is “what makes people happy?” which then lead to the question “is there anything that can make everyone happy?” Luckily, I have found answers to these questions, and I can finally apply the knowledge acquired by these answers to my life.
