Women in the military is a significant issue in our society . Men are more physically capable than women but that doesn't mean women can't do the job(Book). Women are just as willing to fight and die for our country as men so why shouldn't they be able
Going back all the way to the American Revolution women served in the military. They were only allowed to serve as nurses until World War I. Then they were trained to be stenographers and combat phone operators. Women are allowed to serve in combat now but not in a combat military occupational specialty (MOS). Even to this day the question still remains “Should women be able to serve in combat military occupational specialties?” Combat military occupational specialties are the jobs in the military that take you face to face with the enemy on a daily basis.
Caylee Premo Dr. Bob English 102 19 April 2017 Women in the Military Draft The United States military is one of the most important and largest job sources within America, with supplying far over a million jobs to people across the country, this including both men and women. These jobs are given to people who chose the path to gain them; however, this does not highlight the military draft and the people chosen by it. Currently only men above the age of eighteen and below the age of forty, are chosen by a mailed notice, and drafted into the military, if an imminent emergency were to present itself; however, it would be beneficial to the country if women were also accepted into the draft. There are of course both pros and cons to women joining the draft, as there are to any controversial topic. The perks of this acceptance would be career advancement, military readiness, and effectiveness; unfortunately, with helpful pros comes the unwanted negatives.
Women had to work in factories and even make equipment for the war. After the war “there was a worry that employers would continue to employ women in these jobs even when the men returned from the war. This did not happen; either the women were sacked to make way for the returning soldiers or women remained working alongside men but at lower wage rates” (“Striking Women”). Some women refused to accept these lower wages and went on strike. As a result of these strikes the War Cabinet established a committee.
Have you ever thought about those people who were fighting in the World Wars or any other? Those people were fighting for their country, for their families and future generations. If military service was mandatory, people would not have a choice to go or not to go to the army. They would have to defend their Motherland anyway. This could bring them up as mature and responsible men.
In the modern era, everyone is striving to achieve equality among genders, races, and nationalities. While equality is a great thing and something that this country needs, war and combat are not the places that women belong. They have strengths and weakness that are better used in aspects other than on the front lines with a rifle. There are areas that women are superior, such as they are typically smarter than men in the military; therefore, an administrative role may just suit them better. Women are also more compassionate than men, making them a better nurse or doctor on base, caring for men who get wounded on the battlefield.
However, as the male population decreased, they had no other choice than to employ women. Hundreds of thousands of females gained access to a wide range of jobs, such as working in engineering industries, offices, working as postal workers, and bus drivers. In addition, some women are taking on jobs in the war itself. Are women the ‘weaker sex’? Women’s contribution to World War I has made a positive impact on politicians and the general public.
I think that joining the military helps a lot of people. One shouldn’t just go to an enlistment office and just sign their papers. They should study up on what branch they want to serve in and they need to make sure it’s what they really are interested in
Therefore, who would believe a woman when she confesses that the man who sexually abused her was the head of the prevention group? It would be hard to accredit somebody who accused a head personal, of hurting harassing, and sexually abusing a military female. Women have a crucial role in the active military, being most represented in medical (30.5%) and administrative (30.1%) specialties, and sacrificing their lives in their noble efforts, for the safety of ours. But, female soldiers have come to a realization that some enemies are not just across the battle line, but from their own team as well. The US government should take energetic measures to prevent abuse, sexual assault, and harassment against the female gender in the US military, because it would not only be in the best interest of military women, but the US military in
Today, in this essay I am going to talk about the role women played in the Vietnamese military, but not only that, but I will also address the role women play every day, everywhere. I want to remind you what we are, and have always been capable of. I don't want to make this a feminist essay, but I want to talk about the importance women have in general. I will talk about the women and their past, what women have accomplished, what they have done to the world, and the roles they have played. I hope that we all learn a little about the role they played in the military.
