DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNOLOGY FOR SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY OF RAILWAY OPERATION

Abstract —Concerns regarding railroad safety have been raised worldwide due to the increased number of railroad accidents including high speed train collisions. As a consequence, the importance of safety in railroad operations has been more emphasized recently and therefore the related safety facilities are drawing attentions. As statistics shows, a large portion of railroad accidents is related to railroad level crossings and the obstacle detection at the crossings is an important problem for railroad safety. In this paper, while focusing on the local situations in Korea, the problems of the current system for

2-dimensional laser ranger finder has been used and, by tilting the laser scanning head, the entire 3-dimensional area is scanned for obstacle detection.the sequential detection results that can be merged in order to form the 3-dimensional image.

2.OVERALL PROJECT OUTLINE In this concept can be used for safety assessments of rail road level crossing. We using vibration sensor for find any obstacles on the track. In case if gate is opened while train crossing the level crossing vibration sensor will activate low and sends the information to train driver and base station also gate will be automatically close. After train crossed the level crossing gate will be open. And another one safety measure of this project is prevent from fire accident. We using LM35 (Temperature sensor) for sensing temperature on the train compartment. We have to fix some threshold value for emergency alert. if fire occurs at any moment on any compartment emergency message will be transfer to train driver and automatically that firing compartment will disconnect for avoid spreading fire to neighbor

Use it to send SMS, make and receive calls, and do other GSM operations by controlling it through simple AT commands from micro controllers and computers. It uses the highly popular SIM300 module for all its operations. It comes with a standard RS232 interface which can be used to easily interface the modem to micro controllers and computers.
