Introduction
Rape is a form of sexual abuse involving sexual intercourse or any other form of sexual penetration against persons will. This can be accomplished by an act of physical force, abuse of authority or against a person who is incapable of giving consent because the person is in state of intoxication or the person has an intellectual disability or that person is minor.
The supreme court of India ha aptly described it as deathless shame and the gravest crime against human dignity. Rape is a ultimate violation of self it is not a physical assault to the victim’s body but it also shatters the victim mentally and destruct the whole personality of the victim.
Concept of Rape

It is important to figure out the intensity of this offence that how it ruins the victim physically as well as mentally, and for that reason it is imperative to support the rape victim rather than denouncing her at each and every point. We have heard many controversial statements given by political leaders- Om Prakash Chautala, former chief minister, Haryana “Girls should be married at the age of 16, so that they have their husbands for their sexual needs, and they don’t need to go elsewhere. This way rapes will not occur”. Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Trinamool Congress legislator, “One of the reasons behind the increase in incidents of eve-teasing is short dresses and short skirts worn by women. This in turn instigates young men.” Girls tease men by wearing skimpy dresses who, in turn, tease them. Why not tease them? Asaram Bapu on Delhi Gangrape in 2012, “The victim is as guilty as her rapists… She should have called the culprits brothers and begged before them to
“Every two and a half minutes, someone is sexually assaulted in the United Sates” (Hansen, 2011). With the crime of sexual assault, the victim’s body becomes part of a crime scene. When the victim reports the assault to the police, the person is taken to a hospital or crisis center. “At the hospital most of these victims consent to the collection of physical evidence from their bodies, or a ‘rape kit’ (Nat.
Court’s Opinion: The crime of rape is defined as follows: § 3121. Rape A person commits a felony of the first degree when he engages in sexual intercourse with another person not one’s spouse: (1) by forcible compulsion; (2) by threat of forcible compulsion that would prevent resistance by a person of reasonable resolution; (3) who is unconscious; or (4) who is so mentally deranged or deficient that such person is incapable of consent. The victim of a rape need not resist.
Sexual offences are sexual assaults that are covered in the Sexual Offences Act 2003. Sexual assault also known as sexual violence or abuse is any type of involuntary sexual activity that the victim does not give consent to (does not agree to) and it is never the victim’s fault. Sexual assault can include any type of sexual contact with someone who cannot consent, such as someone who is underage, has an intellectual disability, or is passed out. It also includes rape, attempted rape, sexual coercion, sexual contact with a child, incest (sexual contact between family members), Fondling or unwanted touching above or under clothes. Sexual assault can also be verbal or visual and it is anything that forces a person to join in unwanted sexual contact
1. This paper will discuss the rapes that occur while in the military, and a way to spread awareness. 2. I interested in spearing awareness about this topic because the people put their life on the line every day to save us and we should be doing the same. Many of those men and women that get rape in the military are ashamed of admitting it, but I want to help them by inspiring them to speak up about it so the others can follow.
Rape and sexual assault plague the lives of many people,
In society and college campuses, sexual assault occurs quite frequently. According to an estimation one third of women experience a forced sexual experience at least once in their life and most of the time it occurs in colleges. Men have also been reported to be victim of sexual assaults mostly by other men. Most of the time the sexual assault is planned and perpetrated by a third person, who is known to the victim of incident. Drug and alcohol use play role in this issue and contribute to the problem as most of the time the victim and perpetrators are under the effect of alcohol or any other drug during the incident.
Besides having, bruising, bleeding and soreness, rape victims are likely to have, anxiety, uncontrollable thoughts of the tragic events, and reoccurring nightmares. Most of these women are already malnourished before an attack takes place, and the effects of the rape takes a major toll on the body. This has a tremendous impact for all victims, but especially for virgins. Virgins are women who have never had sexual relations prior to the rape. They feel they have lost all sense of identity and no one will ever take them as a wife.
I hope that during my undergraduate years at George Mason University I will be able to investigate the problem affecting many colleges that is date rape drugs. Rape on college campuses is a horrifying epidemic that our country is facing. According to healthresearchfunding.org “Up to 90% of college campus rapes occur through date rape incidents.” Almost every day on the news there is a new story about a woman who was a victim of rape or sexual assault, and most of the time the perpetrator gets away hands free. A major reason why date rape drugs are commonly used is because they are easily slipped in to drinks at college parties and are undetectable by the victim.
The family’s girl may also become a victim as critics will increase towards this girl’s honor. In addition, if the woman choose to have this child; at some points in her life, it will remind her of the event when she got raped which will bring her bad memories and create a long lasting trauma. Rape of woman takes place in many countries, a woman who is coming back home from a long night in dangerous
According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, another person endures sexual assault every 98 seconds. This information may have been shocking ten years ago, but for many, this news is a basic fact of life. Sexual assault cases have continued to become more and more common as time goes on. What is causing this surge in unwanted physical contact? The cause of sexual assault is one hundred percent of the time, the assaulter’s fault.
The United States is facing a growing problem that shows no signs of slowing: sexual assaults on college campuses. Possible reasons for this epidemic are explained by Janet Napolitano, the current president of the University of California. She describes that “young adults live independently and in close proximity to one another for the first time” while attending college (Napolitano 387). The college setting provides students with opportunities to take advantage of one another. As a result, sexual assaults have become an issue across universities in the United States.
A few reasons a person may not report a rape includes: denial, fear of the legal system, fear of retaliation, guilt and blame, personal matters and victim-offender relationship. Due to denial, victims do not report rape because they may not be sure if it was rape. In order for a victim to come to the decision of reporting rape he or she needs to realize it was rape. Some victims do not realize it was rape due to the issue of less violence (Burgess et al., pg.376). The victims who report their rapes are the ones who acknowledge it was rape and the rape that occurred was more violent (Burgess et al., pg.376).
There are numerous definitions of rape culture. The most accurate definition of rape culture is, “a complex set of beliefs that encourage male sexual aggression and supports violence against women . . . In a rape culture, women perceive a continuum of threatened violence that ranges from sexual remarks to sexual touching to rape itself. A rape culture condones physical and emotional terrorism against women as the norm . . . In a rape culture, both men and women assume that sexual violence is a fact of life, inevitable.”
This is something that concerns every girl and women around regions, nations, and countries. In Mexico, excessive murders, disappearance, and rape have been tremendous problems for ten years and still going (The Facts: Gender Inequality and Violence Against Women and Girls Around the World, Paragraph 5). In South Asia, dowry death murders thousands of women each year, and honor killings continue to rise drastically in many Mediterranean and Gulf countries (The Facts: Gender Inequality and Violence Against Women and Girls Around the World, Paragraph 8). Honor killings caused 500 women to die each year, 47% were raped then killed, and around 400 were beaten and/or tortured (The Facts: Gender Inequality and Violence Against Women and Girls Around the World, Paragraph 9-11). This is also reasons why physical and sexual abuse among females is increasing by the second all around the world.
Abortion legalization We can do whatever we want with our body, it is our property. What government can do about this is to suggest, not to suppress. However, more than 300,000 females around the world are carrying a rapist’s child, due to formidable pressure from the government’s authorities. Why should the government care about our body?
