The Hawaiian Day Octopus is part of the mollusk family, and are closely related to squid, cuttlefish, and the Nautilus. They don’t have shells, but compensate with their extremely intelligent and ability to adjust color immediately to match their surroundings. When they are startled or leave a certain area, they release an ink cloud. The objective of this ink cloud is to distract possible predators, (*kind of like in Mario Kart when your screen gets inked). They can also squeeze themselves into tiny cracks.

She thinks about lobsters and their view of world around them: “It probably looks like an alien planet out here…so you don’t even know what the story’s a bout, who’s the good guy and who’s the bad guy…Or maybe, instead of an actual place or thing, to a lobster it looks only an idea out here. That scared her.” (Banks 23-34).
Blackfish (2013) is an American documentary film directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite and produced by Manuel V. Oteyza. The documentary primarily concerns the controversy of captured Killer Whales at the theme park Sea World, primarily that of Tilikum, an Orca responsible for the deaths of 2010 SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau and two other individuals. The documentary begins with this incident but goes as far back to the 1970 's show the audience how young Orcas are captured in the wild and taken from their families and natural environments. Since its release at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Blackfish has achieved both critical acclaim and caused controversy regarding SeaWorld 's treatment of its animals as well as retaliation from SeaWorld as to the legitimacy of the film 's claims.
An invasive species is defined as a species that isn’t native to a country and has negative effects on our economy, environment, or health. The species I am researching is the Asian carp. Its scientific name is Cyprinous Capario. The Asian carp live in many different areas around the United States, such as the Great Lakes area and the Mississippi River. Lake Michigan is home to very diverse populations and species.
Blackfish is a documentary written about the cruel way the killer whales are treated in SeaWorld. The documentary explains the circumstances in which the killer whales are caught, and the small spaces these huge animals are allowed to live in, which leads to short life span and aggravated behaviors of the otherwise gentle Orcas. The maltreatment is believed to have led the death of several trainers in Canada, America, and Spain, as the killer whales grew increasingly agitated with their conditions. A good documentary film must have a captivating storyline, real interviews, facts and statistics to back up claims, and actual footage. There are several documentaries being released on a weekly basis, in which "claims," are made but later repealed.
On average it’s said that 22 veterans take their own lives, every single day. In the short story, Perfect Day for Bananafish, J.D. Salinger demonstrates going to war changes a person for life, and can even lead to suicidal tendencies. Seymour Glass is an army veteran returning from WW2 and is on the brink of a physchotic brink. Seymour’s lucid state and unfit marriage leads to him ending his life. In Perfect Day for Bananafish by J.D. Salinger, Seymour is portrayed as a traumatized veteran going psychotic demonstrated through a phone call, state of mind, and trauma, lead to Seymour ending his own life.
Blackfish is a film on the various incidents involving orcas in SeaWorld, focusing on Tilikum especially, who killed three people. Blackfish argues that captivity causes psychological harm to orca. It claims that because orcas are used to swimming up to 100 miles per day, keeping them in small enclosures has a detrimental effect on their mental well-being. A neurologist interviewed in the film says that all orcas in captivity are emotionally scarred, traumatized, and are thus “ticking time bombs”. Evidence in the documentary is used to suggest that orcas exhibit signs of stress, hyperaggression, depression, and frustration, which, especially with Tilikum, seemingly manifested itself as violent outbursts against the trainers, and other orcas
Essayist, David Foster Wallace, article “Consider the Lobster” discusses the deeper issue at hand found in the Maine Lobster Festival (2003) that attendees often overlook at or do not care; whether it is morally right to subject pain on animals because of gourmet delicacies. With this intention in mind, Wallace must wangle his point across readers of Gourmet magazine, his attended audience, in order for them to understand that the Maine Lobster Festival is not just about "the promise of sun, fun, and fine food" But a deeper issue at hand. Therefore, Wallace use of the rhetorical strategy Pathos throughout his essay creates an emotional impact on his readers; who have probably never consider the lobsters’ point of view. Consequently, allowing
Fishing I have always loved fishing since the first time I was on the water, It is a fun sport that I think everyone should try. Fishing is amazing in so many ways sometimes the coolest thing about fishing is having that awesome fight and experiencing the action of feeling the fish tug down on the line as you trying to get it up into the boat. I hope to take fishing to the next level and go to college to be on the fishing league. There is a lot of different things about fishing like the kinds a bait like top water bait you can bottom fish which is usually the best technique for catfish. There are a couple key things you need to know when you are fishing One is that you need to be good at setting the hook, you will start to feel some tug then when the fish attacks you bait you want to yank up and set the hook catfish are usually the easiest because they attack it very hard.
Marine organisms are animals, plants, and other living things that live in the ocean. A Marine biologist is a scientist who studies marine organisms and studies the bodies, behavior, and the history of marine organisms. They also study how marine organisms interact with each other and their environment. I have chosen to research about Marine biology because I would like to learn about sea life, the ocean, and its surrounding environment. To start off, a Marine biologist might study coral, crabs, fish, microscopic marine organisms, sea stars, seaweed, squid, or whales.
Different managers have different styles that do not change and are better suited for different tasks. Relationship and task oriented leaders can be distributed depending on the task structure, leader’s position power and their relations with members. In McDonald’s, restaurant managers are mostly task oriented who handle structured task like overseeing sales and controlling profitability. Area (frontline) managers however are more relationship oriented and specialize in unstructured task since the restaurant promotes good working relationship and friendship among each other.
