The use of mathematics permeates many field of studies such as biology, physics, chemistry, economics, geology, medicine, comets, geography, music, arts to mention but a few. Mathematics is suggested to be among the crucial subjects to national development. Technological and economic developments in all countries depend on effective knowledge and use of science and mathematics. For that matter, the progress and improvement of mathematics is linked to the prosperity of the state and this tells us that mathematics should be highly esteemed as far as the development of the state is concerned. For this reason, most countries in the world including Ghana make mathematics compulsory in the educational system in their pre-university schools. In Ghana, a student who fails in core mathematics paper at the Basic School level, Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.) or the Senior High School level, West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (W.A.S.S.C.E.) cannot progress to the next level of his/her education.

The role of geometry in education and daily life is tremendous. However, in many countries, mathematics curriculums ignore geometry, which results in geometry disappearing from the school system (Dolbilin, 2004). Many research studies have shown difficulty in teaching and learning of mathematics, geometry in particular. Students often fail to develop the visualization and exploration skills required for geometrical concepts, problem-solving skills and geometry reasoning (Battista, 1999; Idris, 2006).
