At the beginning Romeo was in love but not with Juliet with a girl named Rosaline. He couldn't stop thinking about her. Meanwhile Juliet's parents were looking for someone for her to marry. There was an party at the Capulet house and Mercutio (Romeo’s friend) was invited. So why not bring people to enjoy the party with him, which he did, including Romeo. One look at juliet and romeo is all of a sudden in love with her. He has to talk to her so he makes his way to her and they talk. By the end of the night they were so deeply in love they decide they should get married.
The next day Romeo goes to the priest Friar Lawrence to ask if he was willing to marry them. Friar Lawrence first thought he was talking about Rosaline seeing Romeo was very much in love with her. After thinking about it Friar Lawrence thought it was a good idea for them to get married.
He thought it would end the long lasting feud between the two families. The priest agrees to marrying the two and tells Romeo that they should meet at the church. Juliet sends her nurse to get the information from romeo. When

As Mercutio and Tybalt fight, Romeo intervenes and in doing so, Tybalt stabs Mercutio under Romeo’s arm. After the death of Mercutio, Romeo is disheartened by his death and avenges his friend by murdering Tybalt.
Those words made Mercutio snap, and he drew his sword declaring if Romeo won’t fight Tybalt, he would. The fight ended with Mercutio’s death that occurred because of Romeo intervening, and giving Tybalt an opportunity to strike Mercutio.
The friar believed if he married them the family's feud would end because of the marriage. Before he married the two he questioned Romeo if he actually loved Juliet, thinking if they loved each other then it was okay to marry them, but the friar knew that it was forbidden to marry two people from the fighting families. Friar Lawrence then questioned Romeo if he actually loved her because just the day before, Romeo loved Rosaline and said if he couldn't be with her he wouldn't be with anyone else. Romeo then fell in love faster than a blink of an eye. Also later
The Friar is one of the first people to know about the relationship of Romeo and Juliet. Despite knowing the consequences of the marriage between the two, he still agrees to marry them in hopes that the two feuding families will come together: “For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone/ Till holy church incorporate two in one.” (II.VI.36-37). By marrying the two, the Friar seals the fate of the two lovers. Romeo is now Juliet’s husband.
Hold Tybalt! Good Mercutio!” (3.1.89-91). Although he talks of peace, Romeo contradicts himself by drawing his weapon and joining the fight. As Romeo attempts to stop Tybalt and Mercutio with his own sword, Tybalt sees the opportunity to stab and kill Mercutio.
Romeo and Juliet is a play about star-crossed lovers. Romeo is apart of a high class Montague family; their rival is the Capulet family. Romeo falls in love with the daughter of Lord Capulet. They want to get married but they know that this will not be approved between their family feud. This is why they secretly ask Friar Laurence to marry them in secret.
He wants to fight, but Romeo is not budging, for he does not want to harm Juliet’s cousin. So instead of Romeo fighting Tybalt, Mercutio fights Tybalt because Romeo will not fight for himself. Romeo steps between them and tries to stop the duel, but Tybalt manages to stab Mercutio underneath Romeo’s
When Romeo keeps turning him down and walks away Tybalt gets even angrier. He insults him again and doesn’t really pay attention to what Romeo says. Mercutio decides at that
When Romeo asks the Friar to marry him and Juliet together he agrees because he thinks that it may bring an end to the feud between their families, but he is also shocked that Romeo has gotten over Rosaline so quickly. For example, Romeo comes running in to talk to Friar Lawrence saying, “I love rich Capulet's daughter. I love her and she loves me. We’re bound to each other in every possible way, except we need you to marry us” ( Act 2, Scene 3, Lines 57-59). This quote shows us that Romeo has truly gotten over Rosaline and moved on to Juliet.
Romeo refuses to fight Tybalt due to the fact that they are now family since Romeo and Juliet got married not too long ago. Mercutio decides to defend his friend, so he and Tybalt begin fighting. Romeo tries to stop them by holding Mercutio back, but that’s when Tybalt stabs Mercutio from under Romeo’s arm. Mercutio dies with the words, “... Or I shall faint.
Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel and he declines the challenge and insists that he won’t fight Tybalt. Mercutio is angered by Romeo’s “cowardice” and takes on Tybalt himself. Romeo wants Mercutio to stop fighting Tybalt so he decides that it’d be a good idea to block his arm in mid combat and Tybalt stabs Mercutio from under Romeo’s arm and Mercutio falls dead after rambling about plagues and a pun or two. Romeo doesn’t realize that it is his own fault that Mercutio died after Mercutio even blamed his wound on him. Romeo lets his emotions decide his actions and becomes enraged and ignores that Tybalt is now his family and fails to see that he was the reason Mercutio was killed.
Mercutio decides to fight tybalt because Romeo would not fight back against him. Romeo is being a coward in the eyes of Mercutio so he decides to fight Tybalt on his own. “O calm, dishonorable, vile submission Alla stoccata carries it away. Tybalt, you ratcatcher, will you walk?” (Shakespeare 1091).
From the moment he sees her at the Capulet party, Romeo immediately falls in love with Juliet. They both fall head over heels for each other as the night progresses. During their time together, they completely put all things aside and forget everything about the world except for their love for one another. Most people seem to think this way about the romance between Romeo and Juliet, but in reality, they aren’t actually truly in love. Romeo and Juliet are not in love with each other because just a day before they met, he felt heartbroken because of a girl named Rosaline who didn 't love him, he pressures Juliet to profess her love to him, and after just barely meeting, they both agree to get married.
Some evidence to support this argument would be this quote. " Romeo 's friends, who wish to see him lifted above his melancholy, urge him to stop philosophizing about his lost love and to seek another young lady as a new object of his affections." (Dupler 1). This quote is basically describing what is going on before Lord Capulet 's party starts. Essentially what is going on during this time is that Mercutio and Benvolio are forcing Romeo to go to a party so he can invest his time in a new girl instead of moping about Rosaline, who is the girl Romeo loved before.
