Our Role Model Sheikh Zayed “A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” Are you familiar with Sheikh Zayed? He is the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, born in 1918 and died in 2004. Why is it essential to be aware of him? Well Sheikh Zayed transferred his vision to reality, his actions inspired others, he created noble leaders to rule after him and Sheikh Zayed had recognition and appreciation for women. To begin with, Sheikh Zayed transferred his vision into reality, consequently, he brought something different to the table which is the ambition to make UAE one of the highest, developed and, superior countries, and furthermore, he built UAE although it was a hopeless idea at the time. Therefore, after his death, he was still remembered and was an example to be followed. “The ruler should not have any barrier which separates him from his people,” said Sheikh Zayed (1991). As a result, he would love to visit and bond with his people, he used to attend people’s occasions and visit their homes regularly. He was close to his citizens which made them admire him because that made him an approachable leader. Generosity was his best trait, he always provided aid and assistance to those in need, in addition to taking care of his citizens and, he also performed charity frequently since people were struggling with finances at the time. He also helped other countries during war or poverty, consequently, Sheikh Zayed influenced not only his country but also people from around the world.
