The Music Preferences
In spite of its universality, music is highly and inextricably intertwined with society and culture. Because the meaning or importance of music is ultimately defined in the context of cultural and societal values (Duany 1984), cross-cultural differences in music production styles and preferences are inevitable. Some cultures share preferences for genres of music, rhythm patterns and degree of musical participation, other cultures have widely divergent tastes. Music preferences tend to vary greatly among cultures (e.g., Moreno 1992 or Pope 1995).
LeBlanc et al. (1996) found that music preferences for the different styles were similar across this wide range of grades and ages.

Smartphones have more features than ever before including touchscreen capabilities, GPS, cameras, and much more (http://www.thesnugg.com/a-brief-history-of-smartphones.aspx).
Smartphone is a mobile phone running a complete operating system in a manner similar to a traditional computer, which offer advanced computing abilities and connectivity options. These features enable new kinds of mobile services that in turn shape the usage of smartphone users. Research reports (3-7) on consumers of smartphones have revealed that nearly every students at a college level own smartphones. Although most of the students own smartphones not for learning and teaching purpose, but we can say that smartphones can be directed to useful and beneficial purposes in a way of communicating people and by doing other stuffs. There is a study that indicates 94.7% of the students used their smartphone at home and 38.54% of students used their smartphones at the university. The reason can be students find it risky to have their smartphones with them in their school because they do not know what kind of people would they meet in that place or maybe, they don’t just want to bring their smartphones with them in the
Popularity of Phone is seeing a steep rise. It is a communication gadget which can be used for different purposes. One basic reason is that iPhone has a huge storage capacity which allows storage of audio, contacts, photos, videos, and all other important information. Further it can be connected to the internet too. With all these features iPhone has gained prominence globally as a hi-tech mobile phone.
The cross-cultural exchange of music broadened, and people began appreciating different forms of music. Along with this new music, came the chance for people to hear the stories of people living different lives from them. The various singing and instrumental styles of these musicians came about through cultural practices and traditions. Therefore, by sharing their
The Evolution of music in the 20th Century Music is a living art form, not only is it not static in its production, like a painting which once created is intended to remain the same, but the techniques and styles used to generate music change throughout the course of history as well. Many musical theorists and philosophers have proposed different motivators for the dramatic (as compared to changes in different eras) changes in music that occurred in the 20th century. These motivators include firstly the blending of cultures through migration, both forced and voluntary, represented by the views of George Lipsitz and Iain Chambers in their respective essays “’Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens’: The Class Origins Of Rock and Roll” and “A strategy
Disconnected With more than five billion people in the world now owning some kind of mobile phone, it’s hard to imagine a world without these devices. Without your smartphone who would tend to your crops on Hay Day? Who would take care of your Snapstreaks while you’re gone?
Music is one of the most important aspects to culture. Music is the glue that holds society together. Music changes constantly to fit the vision of new artists. Although music is always changing, it is often influenced by past artists or events. Many decades left a mark on musical history .
Of course, the teacher does not have total control over each student, there are means by which an instructor can yield the results she/he is looking for. Although our authors both bring up strong points about the use of cell phones in classrooms, they sometimes overstated the degree to which they are disruptive. The authors also give a good idea as to how the reduction of cell phone use would help classrooms become better learning environments with more respect for instructors and peers and how one’s grades have the possibility of improving once their cell phones have been put away. If purely stating these ideas to students would not help the students use their phones less, then incentives or penalizations can be offered by the instructor to make such a problem
This universal language of music also embodies the basic human motivation of unification. Rehfeldt, et al. (2021) claim “Because of the symbolic meaning assigned to particular types of music by a sociocultural community, and because of the shared experience that people may have while producing or listening to music, music may serve to unify groups of people” (p. 770). Music creates a sense of belonging for both the artists creating the music and the listeners enjoying the music. Each variation of music speaks to the basic human motivation of unification in a unique way.
Music is one of the biggest influences in today’s world. It’s everywhere; It’s almost impossible to avoid. Music has been around from the beginning of time. But with all the ways to connect with the world music is easy to listen to all over the world. Musicians come from all different walks of life and have such a diversity of personalities.
Course: HUM 101.8620 Professor: Christopher Ogburn Student: Nadejda Kan Date: 02/22/2015 Music is a powerful thing, for it can influence people’s minds. Every person has some specific preferences in music genres depending on cultural preferences and emotional conditions. People prefer listening quiet and slow music to relax or choose fast and loud melodies to improve their mood. It is interesting to notice how musicians reflect the world around them; contextual meaning represents cultural and historical changes in society, and the appearance of every genre in music illustrates the people’s needs and concerns.
Today’s generation is all about their smartphones. These phones now do everything for people to use and the manufacturers make them so easy for anyone to use. But, smartphones are taking over people’s lives, and it may not be for the best. They actually change the way people act and think. Smartphones can save all peoples information such as passwords, usernames, credit cards, emails, and more.
