THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK AND RELEVANCE OF THEORIES.
This part of the study intends to relate the study to two theories that could explain corruption, and later to illuminate its relevance to the study. The following theories are being considered; social learning theory, and social disorganization theory. The first step is to explain the tenets of each theory, and thereafter relate them to explain and illuminate its relevance to the study.
1. SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY.
The proponent of this theory is Albert Bandura. He hypothesizes that people learn from one another through observation, imitation, and modeling. Central to the theory is that new behavior can be acquired by observing and imitating other people’s behavior. Social learning takes place in a common environment and can occur through observation and direct instruction. The social learning also occurs through observation of rewards and punishments. If a behavior is rewarded there is a possibility that such behavior will continue but when punishment is applied, it is likely people desist from the behavior (Bandura, 1986).
The key tenets of the social theory include the following.
1. Learning is not purely behavioral; rather it is a cognitive process that takes place in a social context.

The brokenness is seen in the various conflict that is been exhibited virtually in every ethnic group in Nigeria, due to the fact that leaders can no longer meet the basic needs of citizens. The followers, on the other hands, have developed various dubious behaviors, attitudes, strategies in exploiting others to amass wealth through kidnapping, ritual killing, robbery, yahoo boys, and many others.
