and gas wells, destruction of drilling rigs, dumping of drilling muds and oil soaked waste have been identified as major sources of water pollution the above mention areas. Rivers and water pollution often kill fishes and some aquatic live (Raven, et al, 1998).
Studies have shown the adverse effect of the plants and machines producing unpleasant odor, sometimes causes impairment of mental function and aggravation of cardiovascular diseases. Gas flaring in the oil exploitation zones have also reduces the air quality levels in the environment (Evelyn, 2012).

At most, basic level land use planning is likely to include zoning and transport infrastructure planning. In most western nations, land use planning is an essential part of social policy which ensures the effective or efficient use of lands for economic gains, population benefits as well as in protecting the environment. The following efforts have been made to limit pollution from mobile sources are which are: Primary regulation( for less developed counties regulations are permissive)., Expanding regulation to new sources like cruise and transport ships, farm tools, small gas-powered equipment like lawn trimmers, chainsaws as well as snowmobile, Increase fuel efficiency such as those through the use of hybrid vehicles, Cleaner fuel conversion which include bioethanol, conversion of electric vehicles.(Milton, 2005). Mobile sources of air pollution can also be prevented as …show more content…

Elvidge and his colleagues in boulder also tracked gas flares all over that world. According to Elvidge Russia has the highest gas flares followed by Nigeria .Gas flares in the Nigeria comes from within the Niger Delta and offshore. And that about 50 to 100 of these gas flares are producing halos of light, barely because flares are not being shielded buy anything around according to the explanation given by Elvidge. The whole world have been burning gas associated with crude oil for many years. The world Bank launched a combined global partnership in 2002 as an attempt to reducing the flaring of gas there by ensuring other benefits like energy savings and decrease air pollution. 390million tons of gas flares are emitted of carbon dioxide every year and according to world experts, eliminating global flares would limit more carbon dioxide than other currently registered projects in the Kyoto Protocol (Clean Development Mechanism). With response to both the international and local pressure, Nigeria in 1984 promised to eradicate the flaring of gas and 2008 was made the targeted year to reach this goal. In the previous year the Nigerian government had it serious and Chris Elvidge amended that the gesture toward the reduction of the gas flare was actually coming up with promising results. And as a
