Stray dogs are the familiar domestic animals that we usually encounter at the roadside as they neither have homes nor an owner, thus they are forced to live on the streets with poor conditions. According to the statistic that completed by SPCA Selangor, there are over 2 million of unwanted stray dogs forced to be euthanized, and more than 500 abandoned dogs have been put to sleep every day on average in Malaysia shelters while they estimated only one stray dog to be adopted among the furry friends.
This has also led to the several issues such as the overpopulation of the stray dogs, dog’s aggression, rabies, and even the animal shelters overcrowded. Overpopulation is one of the crises that cannot be ignored as they can be removed and quickly replaced all the time. The Government of Malaysia accustomed to using to deal with this problem through some ineffective and cruel ways like shooting, poisoning, and electrocution.
