Motivating students is the key to make them engaged on learning. Motivation is directing the learners ' positive behaviour towards a goal. Motivation is something that causes a person to act in a certain way which, mostly deals with the behaviour of that person. What is the role of motivation in classroom life of the children? Why do children choose to work on one task and not another? Why do some children dropout even before they really start? Why do some children exhibit less energy on pursuit of the task? The answer is lack of motivation. if the teacher is ineffective the students under her will be academically perform very low therefore, I must say if our aim is to plan effective teaching then it should come through student motivation which can be given by only the teachers.

Intrinsic motivation relates to a learner who has a desire to do something regardless of external pressures. Extrinsic motivation, on the other hand, involves outside forces that want the learner to complete a task. Motivation can be further broken down into integrative and instrumental types. Integrative motivation relates to a student wanting to interact with people, using the target language. Instrumental motivation is evident when there are specific tasks that the learner wishes to be able to do. The relationship between these different kinds of motivation can be seen in the table

Between extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, there are five levels of motivation, differing by their level of self-determination. Due to indiscipline situation students arrive late for class, are not punctual for the classes or simply bunk classes as the class is not very interesting or rather as a teacher we are unable to create interest in the class .This may be a result of lack of lesson planning .At times effective management of time is also overlooked. Non verbal cues like body language and communication skills also play a major role in making the class effective. Problems of Classroom Management can be overcome by being prepared for class, motivating the students, providing a comfortable learning environment, building students’ self esteem, being creative and imaginative in daily lessons. A teacher should not carry personal problems to the class by being impulsive.
