This chapter presents the possible cause of student’s tardiness in going to school, conclusion and recommendation on how to overcome these problems of tardiness of students. Based on the results, the respondents agreed that the best factor that affects them to be late at school is waking up late. This leads to being unable to cope up with the lessons for the first subject. From the researcher’s respondents, most of them suggested to avoid sleeping late to overcome late at school. They also agreed that tardiness is equal to laziness.
Findings:
Breakdown of Probable Causes of students Tardiness
1. Distance between residence and school
2. Using of cellular phone
3. Sleeping habit/waking up late
4. Financial constraints/Standard of living
5. Mode of transportation
6. Peer influence/camaraderie
7. Bullying/ stress factor
ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION
1. Look into the situation of the peer influence as well as bullying of classmates that might be the reason of the deplorable attitude

When students are tardy and they find the subject as an influence, it is more likely that the subject is a major subject and/or a subject inclined to English or Mathematics. Additionally, when students are tardy and they find the teacher as the influence, it is more likely that the teacher is boring. Also, when students are tardy because of the distance from home to school it is more likely that they come from other barangay or they use their leg power to reach the school. More over if they are late because of works and activities, more often that these works are household chores. Lastly, there is no correlation between the subject of the student and their tardiness. Likewise there is no correlation between the grade level of the students and their tardiness. Then subject and grade level of the students are not enough basis to predict whether that student will be more or less likely to be
Should Schools in America Start Later Many kids in America come to school tired and not ready to learn. Being tired can effect your child's grades. Parents might not realize that their child is falling behind because of lack of rest. Teenagers should get up to 9 1/2 hours of sleep yet many kids only get up to 7 hours of sleep.
Later High school start time are linked to academic performance. According to Sifferlin,in When Sleep and School Don’t Mix, the school has seen so many improvements among student since it required them to be at school start later. The percentage of late students dropped around 3% from the 2011-2012 school year to to the 2013-2014 school year. The number of student falling classes dropped 2.2% and the absentee rate dropped 1.5%.This reveals that kids were arriving on time and the number of student falling classes decreased at least by 2 percent. The article also states “ Stating school later is the best interest of the student when there is a will there has got to be a way.
A good number of adolescents are lacking sleep and are performing poorly both academically and physically. As a result, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is pushing educational policymakers to make middle and high schools start later in the morning (Richmond). Students show up to class seriously lacking sleep and the early start times cause them to have to wake up at hours that contradict their internal clocks, which are rhythms that determine sleep patterns. Less than half of the 10th graders get even seven hours of sleep, which is already less than the recommended hours of sleep for an adolescent (Richmond). Even if teenagers go to bed earlier, their school start times are becoming more early as they advance through grades
“...Teens to show up to class before 8 a.m. start time beginning is not good for their health or their report cards.” This was once stated by scientists. Many schools in Seattle believe that later start times in schools will lead to better grades on report cards. Associated Press has written an article called “More zzz’s can lead to more A’s: Seattle schools move start time for teens” to inform people about what is going on in Seattle about the later start times in schools.
Many people argue whether school start times should stay the same or become later in the day. Most students already don't get enough sleep during the night and that can affect their learning experience in school (Wahlstrom). However some positive effects can still come from waking up early in the morning and getting to school around the same time. Although good can come from waking up early in the morning and sleeping in, students still need later school starting times to improve their overall health.
Early school times have been causing children in schools to earn bad grades. Research shows that these children tend to do better when schools are delayed. On the other hand, some people think that starting schools later means having less time to do homework. If schools start later, children will have time to get more rest. Many students are not getting the right amount of sleep.
Do kids really need to get up before daylight just to get to school on time? The answer is no. School should start later. We need more sleep for our brains to function right, also our circadian rhythm changes as we get older making us go to sleep and wake up later, too. One reason school should start later is that less than 20% of kids get the recommended hours of sleep-9.5 to 8.5 hours- and that causes problems in the classroom and teens who do not sleep enough are moody in the classroom.
So, they can improve the odds of adolescents getting sufficient sleep so they can thrive both physically and academically. I agree with this source, starting schools later could enhance student’s school performance academically and athletically. Starting school too early are preventing many teenagers from getting the sleep they need to start off their day. I aim to using this this source to support my claim as to why students need more sleep and how it would affect them throughout the school day. This will benefit my essay by forward explaining why school should start later in the morning and why doing this will be better for the students’
Should Middle School Start Later In The Day? Many students around the world have school really early in the morning. Every adolescent need at least eight in a half hours of sleep each night. If you are an athlete who gets enough sleep then you would have less of a chance of getting injured.
School starting times has been an ongoing debate with no end in sight. Due to early mornings, adolescents have been found to sleep less, and with a hefty majority of young people not getting the necessary amount of sleep, there are many damaging side effects. I believe that the school start time should be pushed back because learning capabilities can be compromised, the body does not respond well on limited sleep, and danger on the road is greatly increased. Many studies have been piloted that demonstrate the benefits of delaying school starting times.
Being on time is one of the most common things you can find in any policy that is out there, whether it is for a job, school, and even the military. Being on time is one of the simplest of things that you can do to show that you have discipline, respect, and responsibility. This can also be one of the key factors that can hinder you from you reaching your goals, and completing any task that you need to complete. Missions and operations have many moving and connecting pieces that function together as a whole depending on a time sensitive plan. Being on time is probably the most common requirement in anything that you will do in life.
" Sleep is very critical and should definitely be taken seriously when making decisions about students and education. In my argument I will use this source to back me up on every reason of why school start times should be later. This article will help me in supporting the needs of sleep because of health and also because more sleep would promote better academics as a teenager. The article had a lot of credible sources to support the ethos appeal; it gave credit to all the doctors and also the students. The consistency of the argument of why school start times should be later is a very strong logos appeal.
Isaac Rodgers 24-Jun-15 The Importance of Being on Time and Organized For Appointments Time management is important because it shows that you care making the appointments on time. When making an appointment that is one thing that you should be aware of and an appointment is considered to be your place of duty when scheduled. The seven army values can be applied when it comes to appointments. Starting with loyalty you are saying that you are going to make it to your place of duty in return making you loyal.
CHAPTER 2 • Cause/s of Failures Students get poor grades involve external factors, like the subject matter is too challenging that makes the students unable to follow in the discussion. The other reasons have to with poor attitudes, like not doing homework dillydallying, and skipping class. Lastly, there are reasons related to personal issues, such as test anxiety and concentrating problems. (Kurtus, 2012) • Student-related Factors • Not Ready for College Students aren’t prepared for post-secondary work and lack foundational skills that hinder to achieve passing grades.
Several studies have been done to identify problems that affects student’s academic performance. The students’ academic performance depends on a number of socio-economic factors like students’ presence of trained teacher in school, teacher-student ratio, attendance in the class, sex of the student, family income, mother’s and father’s education, , and distance of schools (Amitava Raychaudhuri,
