Sphere is using blockchain to keep their network and database decentralized. Blockchain enables a system to create multiple blocks of data which are spread out across a network of participating computers. Each computer is sort of dependent and independent. Adding data on this database depends on the validation of this data by different computers or users behind these computers. In case one computer crashes, it will not affect the data contained in the other computers. This data stored cannot be changed by the action of one computer. Any change that occurs will also be recorded and can be visible to all computers within that network. Blockchain creates security, transparency and allows for decentralization in any system it is applied
