I agree with the experts suggestion on dressing professionally for a telephone interview even though the interviewer can’t see you because you have to dress the part. Even though you are home you have to take the interview serious and just as you would do it in person. Dressing up can change the tone of your voice. For example, a prince won’t act like a prince if she is in a t shirt and shorts but if she was to be in a dress she is more likely to act more of a princess.

The interviewer has less control through the use of a phone interview due to able to see to the interviewee’s expressions to tell if what they are saying is actually true and the phone interview can happen at any time, interrupting sleep or a meal. Limited complexities of questions because the average phone interview is about 10 minutes and leaves open-ended questions out the window because they require a great amount of detail and you are in short amount of time. A way to overcome these disadvantages would be for the interviewee have any questions they have for the interviewer on a notepad and practice their response for any questions the interviewer may have.
