It’s not a question that many historians try and explain the motives behind perpetrator actions in violent events. History has recurred throughout time, especially in the 20th c. when it comes to genocide, where massive groups are involved in mobilizing the same type of destruction. Why then, is it so easy for many ordinary people to commit such horrible violence? This is the question that both James Waller and Daniel Goldhagen try to answer in their books about the perpetrators in the Holocaust. Waller provides a general model, which can be applied to genocide and mass killing events, that explains the sequence of events which lead an ordinary person to perpetrate evil.
Far too often in history, a person’s negative or evil views have influenced others to commit terrible atrocities. In the 1930s, Adolph Hitler hated the Jews and blamed them for the declining economy, high unemployment rate, and other ills in the world. Because he was a master orator, he easily convinced the German citizens to agree with his views, including the belief that Jewish people should be punished, causing their mass execution during World War II. In recent years, leaders of various terrorist cells have used similar tactics of vengeance, brotherhood, and patriotism, recruiting impressionable young adults, promising eternal salvation as a reward for torture, murder, and even suicide. Closer to home, in massachusetts during
They justify their bloody acts on social, economic and political unfairness. Or they would take inspiration from beliefs or spiritual principles. Most forms of terrorism were motivated by warfare between races, their were struggles between the rich and poor or battles between political outcasts and elites. Most terrorism are ethnically based separatism movements, like the Palestine Liberation Organization or Republican Army. Former cartel of Medellin are considered the narco-terrorists because all they do is combine drug trafficking with the terrorism tactics to scare and bother the government and population.
Hate and violence both tend to spread like a disease. When hatred is introduced to an individual, he/she often cannot see past this burning motive - they yearn for revenge. Hatred and violence become a means of getting what someone wants. Author Samira Ahmed further elaborates on this topic: “In recent times, we’ve seen hate emerge out of the dark corners, torches blazing in the night. We’ve witnessed so-called leaders not merely against the forces of hate, but for equality and justice.
For each type of murderer there are motives that provoke them to kill their victims, part of the reason of why they do it is because they are not mentally ill, but seek revenge. “Andrew Kehoe was a farmer living in Bath, Michigan. A member of the school board and the town clerk, on May 18, 1927 he orchestrated a plot to dynamite the Bath Consolidated School, killing thirty-seven children”(“Andrew Kehoe ”). The motive that made Andrew do this was revenge. The reason was because tax collectors were going to foreclose on his farm.
We have shown that some of these parts are accepted by most Muslims (War on terror as a War on Islam) and some parts are rejected by most Muslims (attacking civilians). Yet even the accepted part, that there is supposedly a war on Islam going on, represents only a single mechanism of radicalization ? group grievance. A completely effective attack on this grievance would yet leave eleven other mechanisms of radicalization in play. We conclude tentatively that even eliminating the perception of a War on Islam may not have, at least in the short term, a large effect on the rate of
Introduction Many psychologists and researchers have for many years tried to explain what makes normal human beings become evil and become perpetrators of evil. The study of a normal human being becoming a perpetrator of evil has almost become it’s own branch of psychology. There are many examples of evil actions in this world, which has led to a lot of research of the human mind; where evil is born. Hitler, Anders Breivik, and Jim Jones are just a few examples of the many evil human minds we have seen in this world. All people, who were thought to hold the same mindset as everyone else.
In the Ethical Life, by Russ Shafer-Landau, chapters written by Michael Walzer and Alan Dershowitz express their knowledge and opinions on the topics of terrorism and torture. Is it possible to justify and defend such acts? In the chapter “Terrorism: A Critique of Excuses”, author Michael Walzer shuts down four excuses that attempt to justify terrorism. In the chapter, “Should the Ticking Bomb Terrorist Be Tortured?”, Alan Dershowitz defends his theory that it is necessary to torture a terrorist if that means saving the lives of innocent people while protecting their civil liberties and human rights at the same time. Terrorism can never be moral because it violates all “excuses” and torture is an acceptable tactic to save lives.
20% of criminals suffer from psychological damage. People who suffer from physiological problems are more likely to commit evils acts. These evil acts root from the environment they surround themselves with. This tragedy lead people to not have their own state of mind and hate crimes against Muslims dramatically increased. Being put in a psychologically damaging environment growing up can lead to the person performing evil actions.
On January 4th of 2018 New York Times states that "A suicide bomber working for ISIS attacked a market where shopkeepers were protesting against the police killing 20 and wounding two dozen." Here, again we see two instances where a group of people twists their religion to kill these people and cause terror. This doesn't just happen in the middle east, it happens everywhere. We have seen ISIS countless times in France, South American countries, even the U.S. ISIS wants to take government positions to justify these killings even more. They want these positions to spread this mass chaos, and to stronger their reasons.

Introduction Religious terrorism - is the most dangerous form of terrorism based on religious fanaticism. This phenomenon threatens not only the Middle East but also States that are far beyond the areas traditionally associated with the religion of the Prophet. (Mozaffari 2005, pp.34-36). One of the key actors in the Middle East was Osama bin Laden. With vast resources, bin Laden financed the Taliban.
The second reason is the tremendous energy of youth. Youth are dynamos of potential energy, ready and waiting to find fields of expression. Why in some countries have the youth turned to terrorism and destruction and mayhem? Because that tremendous energy has to go somewhere, and if it doesn’t have positive ideals to serve, and a positive channel to flow through,
Terrorism causes fear all across the world. People are terrified because of what happens in these attacks. There are many different kinds of fear caused by terrorist attacks. Some react to these attacks differently than others. Many react to these attacks in a constructive and rational matter, this helps to not give the terrorists what they want.
